I disagree. I think it is a terrible deal. Like I said earlier, neither of us our going to convince each other. You obviously have buyer's remorse and grass is always greener syndrome. Me? I am just enjoying our incredible exposure and very thankful that we didn't get burried like a mid-major on espn news and internet streams.

Rather be the king of fox than an also ran on espn.

On another note, from a recruiting angle, it is nowhere close.

The acc gets to hype themselves as espn's baby (but they too get a ton of internet stream games). We get to tout ourselves as the king of fox. The AAC is stuck telling their recruits that being second fiddle on espn and having all their games either internet streamed or on espn news is not a bad thing.

Sorry, but that really sucks for the AAC.

I'm not a AAC hater. I think uconn continues to do well and dominates that conference. They will always send at least 3 teams to the dance. They will frequently have multiple ranked teams. Their conference rpi is going to suffer because the bottom half of the league is clueless when it comes to basketball, but the top few teams will be good. But my god, that tv deal is horrible.

You didn't answer my question. What conference other than us has that tv coverage. Fine, it's not our deal, but compared to other conferences- it's very good.... I mean- how many games from the ACC are on ESPN3? A lot.

And what's going to happen when Fox gets either the NBA or Big Ten? They will become king. And- one of those HAS to happen for Fox. They won't survive with what content they have right now. Period.

dude all of their games are not either internet or espn news. You are so obsessed with that point but it's just not true. 20 conference games on ESPN or ESPN 2. 25 games on CBSSN(next year 30- the same number of conference games as we will have on CBSSN). We're talking 40 games on ESPNU or ESPN News(which is becoming more and more ESPN3- 3rd ESPN tv channel).

The ACC has a great tv deal. They are actually on the real espn networks

The Big 12 and Pac 10 have a nice thing foing with their fox/espn affiliations.

I'm not worried about the nba on fox. I don't see them going after it. Why bother? Let espn have the nba. The nba is as much a niche sport as college basketball, and it has been part of the downfall of espn.
If Fox grabs the big 10, then fine. Just more college basketball fans tuning into fox. We will still get out play. Plenty of nights, plenty of time slots, and eventually fs2 will catch on and there will be more than enough time slots for all of us. We still have the major east coast media markets and will continue to get our airtime. They didn't invest all that money in us, and aren't hyping the crap out of the conference right now, just to bury us behind minnesota, purdue and rutgers. Not happening.

We are in a golden position here. I love it.

The AAC is in trouble financially and exposure-wise. And to make matters worse for them, they are all throwing money at football, a sport they can never realstically compete in.

So a 12 team league, with 30 games per team, has 20 games on espn or espn 2 (mostly espn2)?????

Wow, I guess I am wrong!!!

Hahahahah

Sorry, but you just proved my point. That sucks!!!

You are clueless if you think Fox getting Big 10 wouldn't hurt us. Of course it would. They would get a lot of the good slots.

NBA for fox would be huge. It would be content from October thru May. You may not like it- but it's on TV the #2 sport only behind the NFL. Fox needs that content big time.

And- with your standards- how can the ACC have a deal- with so many internet games, but still considered a good deal...

That number is this year- with 10 teams- for conference games only. It's 20/90 games. Next year it goes up to 11 teams(remember, Navy is fb only). Heck just off the top of my mind, I know UConn had 3 OOC games on ESPN, Memphis 3, Louisville with 2-3, Cincy with 2...

Hell, we only of our 90 conference games only have like 60 on FS1.

The acc has a good deal because they are espn's primary college basketball focus.
That said, I would rather have our deal if my name isn't duke, unc, cuse or louisville.

The acc and espn is like coke. The big east with fox is like an up and coming pepsi. The aac's deal with espn is like some obscure coke product that is forced into the far corners of the fridge section in small doses just to put it in the store, but nobody ever sees it or buys it.

And I WANT fox to buy more college games. I WANT fox to land the big 10. I I WANT fox to increase the number of college basketball fans that tune into the station. Big 10 to fox would be a GOOD thing.
First, there are PLENTY of time slots still available on fox.
Second, we would still dominate the 7 pm weeknight slots, and the noon time weekend slots.

Big 10 to fox would be a good thing, just as the pac 10 and big 12 taking some of the later time slots and attracting more fans is actually a good thing too. We aren't going to be relegated to back burner status with fox, they want our east coast major market presence, and will help preserve our brand (unlike espn and the aac where they don't care about any of those brands except uconn).

And if you honestly think that 20 espn and espn2 (mostly espn2) games is a good thing for a conference with hundreds of games in its season, then you are crazy. That aac deal is horrendous.

I get what is going on here. You were probably the contrarian on the board when the tv contracts were breaking. You were a little sad to see us leave espn, and scared about the uncertaintity with fox. You viewed the aac has retaining some of the status quo, so didn't view it as terrible for them. But now that it has played out a bit, you cannot admit you were wrong. We have never engaged in this debate before, so you are trying all your old (now proven incorrect) logic on me. But it is still the same result, the aac has a terrible media deal and we hit the lottery.

Its okay, you can admit that you may have been wrong in your initial reaction. I won't hold it against you. Heck, I didn't even know there were still people holding out with logic that 15 espn2 games and 5 espn games out of hundreds of games was a good thing.
