Nobody haytes seton hall. Everybody who has seen seton hall the past decade (I guess some creighton fans haven't seen yet) just want seton hall to start putting some effort into the sport.

And to the person comparing a loss to maryland with mercer, fdu or st peters - wow.

Info from sports-reference.com...

Not counting this year...

Over the past 20 years:
PC: 11 winning seasons, 0 .500% seasons, 9 losing seasons, 4 NCAA appearances
SHU: 11 winning seasons, 2 .500% seasons, 7 losing seasons, 4 NCAA appearances

Over the past 10 years:
PC: 4 winning seasons, 0 .500% seasons, 6 losing seasons, 1 NCAA Appearance, 159 total wins
SHU: 6 winning seasons, 0 .500% seasons, 4 losing seasons, 2 NCAA Appearances, 166 total wins

Over the past 5 years:
PC: 2 winning seasons, 0 .500% seasons, 3 losing seasons, 0 NCAA Appearances, 80 total wins
SHU: 3 winning seasons, 0 .500% seasons, 2 losing seasons, 0 NCAA Appearances, 85 total wins

RPI over the past 5 seasons:
PC: 87, 156, 158, 147, 77 = 125 (5 year average)
SHU: 131, 69, 104, 70, 101 = 95 (5 year average)

Hmm...

And providence fired the guys who were the problem and providence is trying to pick it up and providence hant lost to mercer or fsu or st peters.

Stop with the, "other guys have been bad at times, so don't get mad at seton hall for being terrible" argument.

From a midwesterner's viewpoint, Providence kind of fell off the map when Gilen left (and God Shammgod graduated - what a name!) and Seton Hall disappeared with the departure of Carlesimo and Dave Hurley.

Just now read this thread, and there seems to be a bit of misinformation about some of these losses. I just wanted to post the Kenpom and RPI Forecast rankings of the teams mentioned:

Maryland: #64/#94
Penn State: #83/#91
Mercer: #96/#81
St. Peter's: #273/#281
Farleigh Dickinson: #323/#294

Three of these are not like the others. In fact, those three might not even be bad losses. So much seems to be perception; Xavier is about to play Wake Forest, who has a Kenpom of ranking of 84th and an RPI Forecast ranking of 103rd. Not too different from those first three, yet they are bad losses and Wake is a decent team. Doesn't make much sense.

I'm actually surprised the Mercer loss gets as much hate as it does on this board. They aren't a bad team (will probably run away with the A-Sun) and it was a road game for Hall. FDU and St. Peter's are the losses that I am extremely disappointed in. There is literally no excuse for those two. Hell, bottom feeder A10 teams I'm used to complaining about are a lot better than those teams. Honestly, if Hall beat FDU and St. Peter's and lost to Mercer still, I wouldn't hardly complain, unfortunately they didn't.

I think DePaul can get the win tonight. That would be a big boost for that program.

If Seton Hall did not lose to FDU and Saint Peters, there is probably a good chance they have a top 100 RPI, I think everyone would be ecstatic. As for today, I hope DePaul shows up. Northwestern is the worst team in the B1G but they are still a B1G team and it's on the road. Would be a nice way to finish OOC.

Finally a SHU game with some atmosphere. Sold out, added standing room only, sold out again, and still people outside trying to get in. The Hall should play every cupcake on the schedule at Walsh.
