Nice job Hoyas. Also nice hearing that JT3 is going to open things up. The game has changed. He's got some serious talent on that roster that if he can make the switch the Hoyas could be a lot of fun to watch this year. I'm a big fan of Peak particularly. Looking forward to seeing him with free reign offensively.

Easily the biggest recruiting coup for the Big East so far. Georgetown's recruiting was looking pretty dismal for 2017 so this is big for JT3 and he beat out Indiana and Kentucky to get it done. I think we underestimate JT3 on the recruiting trail a bit he has always been solid in the past while using some of the oldest practice facilities in the nation so with a state of the art practice gym he is certainly capable of landing some major talent like he did today.

top 50- '14 had 4, '17 has 3
51-100 '14 had 11, '17 has 8
101-150 '14 had 6, '17 has 4

So '17 has closed the gap quite a bit with these last 2 guys. If could get I think even 2 more top 50 guys, I'd probably even call this year better.

The one difference between the 2 classes IMO- the '14 class was a lot more consolidated. 4 top 20 classes. This class a lot more spread out with all the teams.

Stever starting to admit defeat? This may end up being one of the best classes in the history of college sports!

2017: 0 five star and 15 four stars
2016: 1 five star and 12 four stars
2015: 2 five stars and 9 four stars
2014: 1 five star and 16 four stars
2013: 0 five star and 10 four stars

Top 50 Classes:
#4 Xavier
#10 Butler
#26 Villanova
#31 Creighton
#35 Marquette
#38 Providence

#53 DePaul
#61 Georgetown
#69 Seton Hall
#71 St. John's

All 10 teams are within the first 71 positions.

Adding some prospective expansion candidates:

13 - Connecticut
23 - VCU
63 - St. Louis
94 - Dayton

SJU being the 71st recruiting class is so misleading. Marcus LoVett (believe he was a top 10 PG in the nation at one point) is not included since he sat out last year after not qualifying. It doesn't include Bashir Ahmed, arguably the top JUCO player and has already been referred to having the most potential to break out this yr. It also doesn't include Freudenberg, a 4 star from Germany...he has a very nice stroke and he's 6'9. Once his frame fills out, he can be a big threat. He reminds me of the tall, wiry white guys that Wisconsin always seems to get who can shoot the lights out.

SJ is so overdue for things to break right for a change. If they do, we have Zach Brown (7'1 monster center who was a 5 star), Justin Simon (AZ transfer, 5* guard), etc. on the way ontop of those we add this year. Add Marvin Clark (MSU transfer who looked like a bull on the court in midnight madness...will have a real impact).

Recruiting rankings leave out transfers and international players, both of which SJ has been getting a lot of lately. Also affected by pure number of recruits regardless of their ranking. The more recruits in quantity, the better the rating.

SJU being 71 would be for THIS year- the 2017 class that will be enrolling next August. The guys you are talking about were in the class for LAST year.

to expand on that- the class that entered 8 weeks ago was ranked #23 by 247. And that DID include Freudenberg. And it also DID include Ahmed. It doesn't include Lovett- who was the #14 PG in 2015.

best classes in the history of college sports???

Pac 12 right now has 4 teams in the top 11. with just those 4 teams having 2 5 stars and 10 4 stars. 5 in the top 20. 8 teams right now in the top 50. 17 4 stars as a conference. With geography still favoring them on a lot of the remaining recruits.
