Full disclosure - I am not a "soccer guy" at all. But I was on the edge of my seat from the moment France cut the lead to 2-1. When Messi scored the go ahead 3-2 goal, I was on my feet. And then the handball penalty in the box was such a gut punch that I didn't think Argentina could possibly regroup and still win. Quite a match indeed.

I'm the same way as you on the soccer guy thing.

Having said that, I had no idea why France was playing for penalties seemingly in OT. Especially given they were saying that Argentina had such an advantage in penalties. I do think France ultimately got worn out- you could see that in extra time.

It's beyond me why Giroud and Hernandez were both subbed out so early and Konate was brought in so late in extra time. Martinez is a very good penalty stopper (conceivably better than Lloris) so it's strange to think they were playing for PK's but it did seem like they were.
