Allow me to channel my inner Billyjack here.

This is more of a tremendous opportunity than anything else - no way this is trouble.

If we win a third of those games we will be just great RPIwise. Our SOS is really going to get a boost with those games, and no one will expect Butler or Providence to win, so a loss is totally NBD but who knows what will happen?

If Creighton beats Mississippi and Marquette can do the league a solid by beating a crappy GT team, and Nova can raise their game and beat VCU, we will be just fine, with the ability to really blow up.

Everyone (besides Marquette) is doing so well we can lose the majority of these games and still be in great shape. Seriously, look at the AAC, ACC, etc and all the losses they have vs. our 2. AAC is about to have only 1 ranked team, and they lost today (meaning they could potentially have 0 ranked teams, but I think UConn holds on). How many losses is the ACC up to? 15 or 16? Big East has a lot of momentum and I think Providence will join Nova in the rankings.

This is a big time opportunity. A mediocre week probably means a repeat of last year where we struggled to get recognition and tournament teams. However, going about .500 against these teams would almost guarantee a huge year. End of this week we'll be halfway through OOC play.

the key is individual teams. Xavier has to win the Wooden Legacy. St John's needs to at least beat Minnesota or Georgia(going 0-2 wouldn't be good). Creighton needs to go 2-0. Georgetown needs to win probably at least 2 games. Those are the ones that this week is just gigantic for. I mean for St John's 0-2 starts really putting them under the gun with their other OOC games with Syracuse and Duke the rest of the season. Some of the others it's not as big of a deal with- if Nova goes 1-1 or 0-2 while bad for them wouldn't kill them.

When it comes to college basketball there has only been & always will be just 1 power conference. The Big East. What a start, keep it going G'Town, DePaul & St. John's.

Note: as a newbie to the BE ranks, i Have been reading/re-reading the Fall 2012 articles at BECBias. (The manipulation of the league (footballers) by ESPN...The call by some to go to The NBC network...etc.). The Best revenge/rebuking of the reported "demise" of the conference, is winning. The C7 got rescusitated by the Fox TV pkg- winning will restore the shine to the BE image. Just win!
