What does an idiotic blunder have to do with wanting a team in this conference?

When a school with the letters of UD decides to go with a logo that looks like VD, then it doesn't matter if it's Detroit, Dallas, Denver or Dayton. It's going to attract attention. This one has attracted some attention, and it is funny.

For me this type of court screams desperation, in that it seems the idea behind it is "we may not have recent success, great facilities, fan support, or any reason for recruits and fans to pay attention to us but look at this awesome court!" I think that's why most of the schools that do this are generally ho hum programs. X is above that given their history/personnel/facilities/fan support.

To recycle another idea I had a while back, to the right of midcourt at the top, opposite of where it says "Cintas Center", there could be something that says "Ohio's BIG EAST Team"...

Kind of split opinions on the Xavier board, where a poster wrote, "I mean, it could be way worse, like an homage to venereal disease, so the cut-out of the city skyline is hardly a bad thing. Perspective."

I presume you know what this is about...

Actually, I just thought it was a funny joke... I didn't know about the Dayton logo connection until I saw the later comments on this thread... so I was the one who added Dayton to this discussion by mistake... that's pretty funny...

You didn't name them by name and you otherwise weren't aware of it. You're off the hook! I was just curious if that is why you had written it that way. I didn't name them by name in my original post on purpose.

P_B, from what I've read about it, this is about University branding (Xavier/Cincinnati) rather than pure sports marketing or branding. The translations may differ, as they have here and on XH, but the objective is beyond a pretty ( or not) floor.

Fair enough, maybe I wasn't in Cincy long enough to appreciate the need for X to establish this. It just seems like a very little bro to UC type of move.

Can't wait till the season starts, so we can talk about how the teams are doing rather than their floors!

We've certainly seen much worse....I lived in Cinti in the 90's. My kids always liked that bridge (me too), they called it the singing bridge for the noise it made as you drove your car over the metal grates.

Dump the skyline and you have a winner. However if this year we have the type of team I think we will they can play on any floor and have my support.

For me, the bigger the X, the better. Nothing else needed.

Slow down now killer. It seems that the X fans talk about dayton more than anyone and I saw the D logo posted by an X fan. I didn't realize it was someone who made a mistake from another school. But yea it has attracted a lot of attention, the alumni are not happy with it and brought up the VD thing hoping it would make it go away. It backfired and gave student sections of other schools an easy way to mock them for years to come

So...what happens when someone builds a new building? X has to pay for the remodel? Seems silly.
