This bodes well for SJ. G'Town now clearly out. If the Big East gets 4 bids as expected that means Nova, Creighton, and likely Xavier are locks. The last spot is for PC or SJ. Tomorrow is a play in game. Whoever wins goes to the tourney. Lunardi says the same.

Terrible post as usual. Conferences don't get bids, teams do. "4 bids as expected" is BS. We'll get 4 bids if 4 teams' resumes are good enough to get in. Yes, Gtown is now officially out and maybe that makes the bubble slightly softer, but if you're a St. John's fan, I don't think you should be too excited about this one. It does not open up the "last spot" for the Big East. St. John's likely still has to beat Providence and Nova to get in.

I would actually be disappointed to see Georgetown get in and play like this then lose to some low mid-major in the first round. We wouldn't hear the end of it from the other conferences.

The good news is that PC and SJ are stepping up to fill their spot this year. Xavier also had a great first season. In the coming years when we lose our entire starting lineup, we will take a step down and G'Town will need to step up. It's all in cycles.

Now after the G'Town loss it takes away the competition for the likely 4th spot. It's now down to SJ and PC. One team has to lose and end the season. The loser doesn't make it. The winner has a chance at an at large bid and a pretty good one if Lunardi says they probably squeak in. Creighton, Nova, and Xavier are locks. The only Big East bubble teams left are in the matchup thursday. Makes perfect sense. Winner has a good chance at a bid. The 2nd win may not be necessary. I hope Nova gets upset because you are just instigating. By the way, part of the reason SJ/PC may not need the 2nd win is because it would have to be through Nova a top 5 team. Just because you lose to a top 5 team does not mean you aren't good enough for the tourney. The committee will see who the 2nd round loss came against if they lose to them. If the 2nd round matchup was a team like Marquette then I agree 2 wins would be essential. 1 to squeak in 2 to lock it.

Xavier's RPI is 49. They beat 2 teams who are now in the top 15: Creighton and Cincy who was as high as #5 at one point. They also have a very solid win over Tennessee who is a bubble team. Their SOS is 40 comparable to UCLA and Virginia. They have their 20 wins and even if they lose the first round I think they can still be in.

I don't know if you've been following the bracketology but Xavier is far from a lock. Currently in the Bracket Matrix they're the last 11 seed, and only ahead of the last two at-larges (both 12 seeds: Tennessee and Arkansas). Definitely no lock.
