We're 6 and 2 with one loss vs #68 Penn on a neutral court. The other vs Wisconsin on a neutral court who is a top 10 team by all metrics. Not to mention the last couple games have played really well, and our rpi is 45.

If we beat cuse this weekend we will likely be ranked. Not an incredible start to the season, but right now we're a bubble team.

Penn St loss one that could really come back to hurt later. Especially if they lose to Cuse.

Yes, but win against cuse and sju joins Nova as best in the conference and catapults into the national spotlight. Just saying right now we have no bad losses and a huge opportunity.

I agree that most teams have been disappointing, especially looking at the preseason rankings. But think the original post is too harsh on sju. Just beat a decent Fordham team by 46 points (cuse beat them by 15 a few weeks ago at home).

They've switched their playing style since the second half vs GT and it shows.

And remember, Nova went from average BE team to leader of the conference in less than 24 hours. SJU is one of the few teams that still a chance to do something similar before conference play.

Penn state is not a bad loss. It can eventually be, but that's true for basically any loss.

A six point loss to a top 25 team in what was essentially a home game for that team, is a "deadful game"? If that's the case, every team in the conference, sans "Nova, has had a "dreadful game", as has almost every team in the entire country. I'll grant you the GW game, but you're getting a little crazy with the hyperbole when discussing the San Diego State game.

I don't think San Diego St is actually a top 25 team. They're top 25 because they beat you and Marquette, but if none of them are really a top 25 team then....

Well, they are a top 25 team in both polls right now. They've been ranked or in the "others receiving votes" for the better part of the last two years. Their only loss is a nine point deficit to the #1 team in the country and they have a strong strength of schedule. They have an experienced, well respected coach with nationally ranked recruits. What's not to like about them?

Nova fans would beg to differ from this line of thinking. After watching us grow last year from a young, raw team who lost to Columbia on our home court to one that knocked off 3 top 5 teams (including the eventual NC and a 2nd FF team), we all expected that we would be one of the top teams in the BE this year. The wins didn't take us from an average team to the top of the league, it just validated what we already knew about this team. Now if a Xavier or a SJU or a Prov were to knock off a Top 5 and another Top 25 team in the same week then I think it would be an "average" BE team becoming a "leader.".
Go Nova!

'Nova's big win over Kansas looks less and less impressive every day.

Jays fan here. Nova looks like the class of the BE so far, although the Kansas win looks less impressive tonight. I know the Jays win over Iowa was a scrimmage, but it was in Iowa City. I think it is a toss up for second place, with good arguments for us, GT, and SJ. And Marquette can never be counted out. I have seen some impressive efforts out of Butler, and don't discount X just because they struggled with Evansville--we know from experience how scrappy that team can be. Let's just continue rooting for each other until conference. BTW, this board is like a breath of fresh air after the Valley. Wichita State fans and others were so obnoxious and ill-informed. Almost all here are civil, intelligent, and know their hoops. Glad we could join you.

Ummm....the scrimmage was against Iowa State, not Iowa. And it was in Omaha, not in Ames (or Iowa City). And scrimmages don't count a lick. That being said, I think CU is in the conversation for 2nd or 3rd right now.

Sorry, Bimbo, and if you are the real Bimbo, double secret probation apologies. But actually, you bolster my case, since Iowa State looks better than Iowa. And I am pretty sure the scrimmage was not in Omaha. Anyway, details . . .

I'd be pretty surprised if that didn't turn out to be a bad loss.

It's Bembo, not Bimbo, isn't it?

And yes it was played in Omaha.
