Big East could potentially have anywhere from 1 to 5 ranked teams on Monday depending on the outcome of games these next few days. Villanova is the only lock. UConn needs to beat SB. Seton Hall needs to beat Texas. Xavier needs to beat Cincy. Marquette might get in if they beat UCLA. Providence deserves better, but I have no faith the AP voters will rank them even if they finish 10-1. That said, I'm just glad Providence has finally played a successful OOC.

Yeah I think Nova is a lock, and the other 4 are win and in/lose and out type things.

Sunday might be interesting now with Seton Hall/Rutgers. I think Rutgers winning tonight over #1 Purdue gives Seton Hall the ability that if they were to lose on Sunday they'd still remain in the polls.

Nova, UConn, & SH are all good. the Huskies will get the benefit of the doubt due to the Sonogo & their guards’ injuries.

C’mon X & Marquette.

If UConn were to lose to St Bonaventure after losing to WVU, I think they would be out as well.

If UConn loses to the Bonnies on Saturday I doubt they'd stay in, but still would be RV. Massive win for Hall! Even if they lose to Rutger I think they'd remain ranked, especially with Rutgers beating Purdue.

Took a look at 21 non-conference games remaining for the BE and to my surprise there are only 5 buy games. 16 "tough" remaining games are 4 road, 5 neutral, and 7 home games. This is a stretch of landmines to cross in order to get #1 NET ranking to carry into the conference season.

I don't think the Big 12 is gettable for the league..

They have 36 OOC games left before conference play(remember they have 10 later with the SEC). Of the 36, 25 are easy games and 11 are harder games.

And more importantly, they have a 38.20 vs 66.45 lead. Sure Big East has improved since Monday from 83.55 to 66.45- so improvement of 17.10 spots- but Big 12 has also improved from 44.80 to 38.20 or 6.60 spots.

I think for the Big East to get the Big 12, the Big 12 would have to come back to the pack.

That's why these head to head match-ups against the B12 matter so much. If we sweep the last two matches and win the Battle 7-3 we get ourselves in a pretty good position to eventually get past that league. A 6-4 would be nice but not as impactful

They will take some additional losses when they play against the SEC later this season which will help. (Even though none will be bad losses)

TL;DR - The Big East needs to finish very strong the rest of the OOC

If they enter conference play up by 20 or so spots, it's going to be impossible to catch I think- things get really insular.

Also- if they just don't get swept in the SEC challenge it won't hurt. Yesterday they went 1-1 and their average ranking went from 39.0 to 38.2. You schedule tough and you split your rating isn't going to be hurt much at all.
