Even if we are a "Stop-Gap" we are partnered with a business that does not roll over and die. They fight until they are #1. They fight until they are seen as peers to the power players. So in a decades time we might share FS1 with the NBA, B1G and half of the Pac and Big XII but we will still be a conference who is highlighted on that channel. Nothing else is even really up for bid until the end of our own contract. So who are they going to sign thats going to push us off the network?
Is ESPN going to ignore the Big Ten? The NBA? Pac-12? Big XII? They can ignore us but if the station continues to grow it's going to be harder for them to act like we don't exist.
Big difference though is that ESPN will still have a piece of all those properties. The Big East would be the only thing that they have no stake in.
I don't think you realize how thin things get if Fox gets NBA, Big Ten. NBA- 1 night a week would be a dh. Let's say Wednesday as Turner has Tue/Thu and ESPN has Fri. UFC isn't going anywhere- and won't be buried on Friday nights. All of a sudden you are down to only 2 of Monday/Tuesday/Thursday nights. And you are sharing with the Big Ten and they would have a lot of 7pm starts as well.
Geez stever. First you complain that FS1 gets no exposure because they have no properties and is a disaster. Then you state that if they get the NBA/Big Ten, the Big East will get screwed cause they won't get any good time slots. You can't be doomsday both ways....

What I opine and Big East proponents don't like to hear is the Big East is not a franchise type property rather a stop gap measure being used until Fox can attract more high profile content. ESPN is going to do everything in their power to hinder those efforts and minimize any FS1 franchises like the Big East. There is no downside in the strategy ESPN because Big East viewership is next to non existent. Added to the fray is NBC Sports who just stole the Olympics for another 20 years and make no mistake this was a huge win because reports are they got it for the same price no or little price creep (increase). And NBC Sports does a good job much more entertaining network than FS1 at this point.

For the NBA- Turner normally has had Tuesday/Thursday, and ESPN has had Wednesday/Friday. Don't think that changes much at all.... Think FS1 would get a Monday package along with something over the weekend....
So got Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday/Sunday as the options. Friday not a big basketball night at all- don't think that would change much.
The question will be if Fox got the Big Ten is how much they would take. I think it's VERY possible that Big Ten splits their package. For one, even in basketball, there's now 18 more conference games with Maryland and Rutgers added. They can add a FS1 package AND keep games on ESPN and Big Ten network. The 1 million dollar question is what slots the Big Ten would require to sign with FS1. Could easily see them wanting 7pm start times on Tuesday/Thursday's for instance.
As far as FS2 is concerned- that's long ways down the road. They wouldn't have from 4 major conferences- just Big Ten, Pac 12, and Big East.(don't have Big 12 at all in basketball). Don't see Big Ten allowing any of their programming on FS2. And yes, Big Ten has the leverage to force that. UFC won't be going to FS2 either.

You're wrong, they do have the Big XII in BBall. I've watched Oklahoma State play some other Big XII chumps on FS1.

They have Big 12 for football and baseball but not basketball.
