I think they've got a couple of things going for them at the moment.

1. Facilities - Wintrust Arena is a huge step forward for the program. It's first class in nearly every way. And if the few times it's come close to being filled, the place rocks.

2. Player Development - Assistant Coach Tim Anderson is worth every dollar DePaul is paying him, and then some. For those who don't know, Anderson is one of the best basketball trainers in the country. His company's website claims that he's trained upwards of 60 NBA players, including the likes of Anthony Davis, Derrick Rose, and Jabari Parker. You better believe that part of DePaul's pitch to kids right now is that pros pay thousands of dollars to work with Anderson during the summer, and that if they come to DePaul, they'll get him every day in practice for free. And now they can point to the likes of Max Strus and Paul Reed as guys that nobody wanted who they put in the NBA.

3. Opportunity - It's the only good part about finishing last. You get to sell kids on the idea that they have a realistic chance to play right away. "Yeah, other schools will help you improve as well, but realistically, you're not going to play as much there as you would at DePaul."

I hope Depaul isn't doing anything illegal.

All of College Basketball for most of the last 20-30 years: "DePaul can't compete unless they build a new arena."

DePaul spends $75 million to build a palace in the heart of downtown Chicago.

All of College Basketball for most the last 24 months: "How is DePaul recruiting so well? They must be cheating."

Just want to point out that the Wintrust isn't "first class in every way". The concessions suck. There's two open for the MU Depaul game which is usually sold out or close to it due to MU fans. Went to get a beer and a hot dog and it took the entire half and 10min into the second half not to mention the high school kid handed me a beer half full of head rather than a proper pour.

That being said I doubt Depaul is doing anything illegal. They had some minor CBI success and a huge Non Con so occasional recruits were bound to buy into a pitch saying "we've got some pieces we need you to complete the puzzle"

I agree and congratulations Demon and also I think when this guy named Mike Jordan signed with the Bulls in the late 80s and won a world championship in 91 Chi Town pretty much jumped on the bandwagon and dumped De Paul and Joey Meyer. Once the last dance was over it’s been time for DePaul to win back Chicago.

You sure you guys don't want to head back to the AAC? The last place team from last year has the 4th best recruiting class in the country and the 2nd to last comes in at 24. UH, the top AAC team in terms of recruiting for '21, shows up at 39, just 3 spots ahead of the Johnnies--who have the 9th highest ranked recruiting class in the BE. :o

We used to have a guy stop by and tell us all that it was just a matter of time before the AAC was the superior conference.

In all seriousness you guys are going to be playing several conference games this year in which you'll say to yourself: "Damn, are there any easy outs in conference at all?!?"
Go Nova!

Creighton just secured a commitment from SG John Christofilis. Currently a 3 star and #208 in 247 composite. Was as high as #45 on 247 and #47 on ESPN last year before he suffered an injury that limited him spring and summer. Considered one of the best shooters in 2021 class. 45% from 3 as a junior. Had offers from Colorado, Washington, Oregon State and Washington State.
