2016/17 Big East Finish (Post draft deadline Edition)

1. Creighton
Lose starters Groselle/Milliken, 2 role players in Albert/Stewart.
Add: 3*PG Mintz, transfer SG Foster
Everyone else is back. Scoring should be by the buckets... Mo, Huff, Foster, Iz, Hegner. Reliable and deep bench with Ronnie, IZ, Mintz, Khyri, Patton, Krampelj, Hanson. Watson/Foster backcourt “carries” CU to title.

2. Seton Hall.
Lose Whitehead, Derrick Gordon
Add 4* PG Myles Powell, 3* SG Eron Gordon
Everybody else is back- Desi Rodriguez, Khadeen Carrington, Ismael Sanogo, Jevon Thomas, Angel Delgado all return, and they will be a year older and wiser. They know how to win now - they will compete well this year. SH being a good vs great team will depend on how quickly Powell adapts and how well the team assists his transition.

3. Villanova
Lose Arcidiacono, Ochefu, & 3 sparsely used role players.
Add 4*C Spellman, 3*PF Painter, & transfer CFwd Paschal
Great returning cast. Brunson, Booth, Hart, & Jenkins, but I'm thinking that it will take time for Spellman, Painter, and Paschal to adjust to high level Div1 play.

4. Georgetown.
Lose DSR and Hayes.
Add 4*PG Juco AA Mulmore, 3*SG Jagan Mosely, transfers PF Akoy Agau & SG Rodney Prior.
Returnees: Copeland, Peak, Derrickson, and Govan.
Georgetown has a ton of talented athletes who could finally gel & could rise higher. Mulmore/Pryor fill gaps in the backcourt. Hoyas should be in the mix for an upper half finish.

5. Xavier
Lose Abell, Farr, Reynolds, London
Add 4*s PG Quentin Goodin, PF Jones, & 3*PF Ekiyor. (No.3 class in BE)
Bluiett and great returning core, but returning bigs (Gaston, O'Mara, Gates) are only adequate-again, the new guys up front need time to adjust to the Div1 level game. How quickly will Goodin learn X’s system?

6. St Johns
Lose Felix Bamalou, Christian Jones
Add PG Ponds...Juco AA Bashir Ahmed, PF Freudenburg (No.2 class in BE)
Returning cast was improving late - Yakwe, Williams, Owens, Sima. LoVett is eligible. Ahmed and Ponds contribute immediately. The Johnnies will be improved. They have talent to win the league - my darkhorse team.

7. DePaul
Lose Stimage, Henry, Molinari, 2 others
Add Pg Gage, Juco PF Oumar Barry, C Levi Cook, PF Eichelburger, SG Cyrus
Return 4 Seniors - Garrett, Hamilton, Currington, & Wood. Coach is adding good 3* recruiting talent. If the seniors lead effectively, the Blue Demons will breakthrough this season - they could go higher dependent on the play of G'twn/StJ.

8. Marquette
Lose Henry Ellenson, SF Mache
Add PG 4* Marcus Howard, 4* SFs Sam Hauser & Brendan Bailey, & grad transfer SG Katin Reinhardt. (Top BE 2016 Class)
An impressive group of 4 star talent as everyone else is back. Cheatham/Fischer expected to lead. Can Cheatham fix his ailing 3pt shooting? Is the sum greater than the parts this season? Could land higher (5-7). We'll see if Wojo can Coach.

9. Providence
Gone Kris Dunn, Lomomba, Bentil, and Q. Smith also.
Add PG Maliek White, SF Alpha Diallo, C Kalif Young, & Juco PF Emmit Holt.
Bullock and Lindsey return. Players like Kyron Cartwright, Ryan Fazekas and Drew Edwards are fine role players, but they don’t offer much upside to compensate for the loss of Dunn and Bentil. Who is going to step up for Providence this season? How quickly can the newbies adapt to Div1 level play? It will be a long year at the Dunk.

10. Butler
Lose Rosey Jones, Kellen Dunham, Jordan Gathers, Etherington, & Jackson Davis.
Add 4 star C/PF Joey Brunk, PG Kamar Baldwin, SF Henry Baddley (3pt spec), transfer SG Keith Savage.
Kelan Martin, Andrew Chrabascz, Lewis, and Wideman return. Martin is expected to lead…who else will step up? Chrabascz/Wideman are well ahead of Brunk on the experience/PT charts. Will Brunk RS? The Bulldogs finish last.

Powell is not a PG for seton Hall. Thomas is their PG and he's suspended until 2nd semester so carrington will have to man the point in the meantime. Not having a true God PG option will really hurt Seton Hall as it hurt us last year. Still think Seton Hall can be a tournament team this year but they'll take a step back from last year instead of forward with out whitehead imo.

Will Brunk RS?

LOL

He's not going to be a savior his freshman year, but a 4* big man on a team without a lot of frontcourt depth is not going to redshirt.

Jevon Thomas is out until the end of the 1st semester, not the start of the 2nd semester.

Should return mid December (end of 1st) as opposed to mid January (start of 2nd).

Khadeen Carrington may see a lot of time at PG this year - as opposed to my earlier post in the Pirates review thread.

I think Xavier and Nova are not high enough.

Xavier returns their top three scorers from last season, and 5 of their top 8.
Trevon Bluiett is one of only two ALL Big-EAST 1st team returnees.
Edmond Sumner was one of 3 unanimous ALL Big-East Freshmen team.
Myles Davis is a 5th year senior who was our third leading scorers last year, and is one of the best shooters in the Big-East.
JP Macura who was our sixth leading scorer at 9.4ppg and was Big-East 6th Man of the Year.

Our post play will be by committee with a great combination of youth and experience.

Transfer/5th year senior Rashid Gaston was a 15 and 10 guy at Norfolk State, and more than held his own with Reynolds and Farr in practice last year. He is expected to start at the center spot.

Sean O'Mara was our best post scorer from a percentage stand point 60.9% and is a huge body that is hard to keep off the block.

Eddie Eykior was a top 150 F/C out of high school and red-shirted last year with the team. He has great skill and tremendous length. He will be a big surprise for the Big-East.

Kaiser Gates came on strong for Xavier at the end of the season and will likely play some minutes at SF and F. He is our best defender. He is a 3 and D guy.

Tyrique Jones is a top 100 PF who is the best athlete on the roster. He will be an energy guy off the bench, shot blocker, rebounder, dunker type.

Quentin Goodin is an electric guard with big time play-making ability. He is a nightmare in transition and will likely be on of the first subs off the bench if Xavier decides to go small.

Overall talent on the roster and past results of success dictate they can perform in the top 3 of this league. I would be shocked if they are as low as 5th in the preseason Big-East polls. They will likely be in the preseason top 20.

Why's Goodin being questioned when Xavier won't really need Goodin that much this year with Sumner at the point?? Summer will take up 30+ minutes a game I'd imagine and be a first round pick in the draft by the end of the year. Marquette is way low. Don't get me wrong I could see Xavier ending up in 5th, I just think you are questioning the wrong thing for Xavier.

Had you bothered to check the scholarship chart you would have noticed that Butler also has Avery Woodson coming in as a grad transfer next year also.

Additionally, Baddley is not a (3pt spec), he is a very athletic wing...

Too bad you don't post enough or you would have easily made the list. What has your team contributed to the league again?
