Again, I am sorry to see Sumner go down like that, but only people even HINTING that it was dirty are Xavier fans. Ochefu didn't even TOUCH him and now his name is being thrown into the mix. The amount of whining and shots taken at Jay Wright, Villanova, and Villanova players are noted.

PS - Hoping to see Archi take a "hard foul" at Xavier! You guys are all class!!!!!!

I guess we're not done being children. You went to a Xavier message board. What do you expect? I'm guessing if the situation was reversed and I went to a Nova board it would be all roses? Games over. Move on and get over yourself.

Congrats to Nova on the decisive victory.

Nothing much else to post about it, as we need for Edmund to come back at 100% and move forward.

And we see about revenge - or not - in February.

I went because I am always interested in what other team's fans have to say. I have had a little bit of a "holier than thou" attitude and I apologize, but some of those posts were hard to read coming from fans of a team and a program that I have a great amount of respect for. I couldn't be happier that Xavier is in the Big East. We needed a team like Xavier to keep this thing going, and I know it isn't easy to watch your team lose like that. We had to do it against Oklahoma, but some of those posts were ridiculous, and reading people basically calling to see Arch take a "hard foul" pissed me off. I am sorry.

Good luck X and I look forward to Sumner's return!

Emotions were high all around.

At least Sumner appears to be okay.

I didn't enjoy 20 seconds of that game, while I'm sure Nova fan's gloated over it.

We lost a key player, nothing went right for Xavier, everything seemed to go right - and in the basket - for Nova, and we lost our first game of the year by 30+.

Again, we move on.

I''ll alert the presses. "Some fans of sportsball team go overboard. Most not so much. More at 11." Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.

Seriously, take this with a grain of salt. Just like Xavier fans should take the "great hit Jenkins" and " I'm happy Sumner's in the hospital" comments. There's always bad apples. Should I judge the entire Villanova fan base off of stories from someone who claims to be at the game? No, I'd be an idiot. Should you be surprised that there are a couple stupid posts on a team's message board after a bad loss? No.

SEE BELOW. BuckNasty85 is my login for another board. I have no idea why it transitioned to this board as well. You can look at the number of posts I have made with this name I have only made a few posts, all by accident on here. This is not another name used for flaming. Again, just a name I sometimes accidentally login under.

I agree. I post on Villanova's board regularly and realize each fanbase has fans who make stupid comments and they should not represent the entire fanbase. God knows I have made my fair share of stupid comments. I am a big fan of Xavier and would love to build a rivalry with you guys and I think that it is already on it's way.

Trust me, Villanova played out of their minds today. We know that losing Sumner is tough and that today was not the usual Xavier team that we would have to face. We know February is going to be a battle.

My apologies for going a little overboard. I was reacting to things other people were posting but I shouldn't have let it get to me the way it did.

I look forward to a speedy recovery from Sumner and look forward to him playing at 100% again in the near future!

The foul on Sumner was nothing more than a hard foul.

Give credit where credit is due. Nova played a helluva game. If we had to lose, at least it was to another Big East team.

+1.

X got their buts handed to them to day, it's hard to swallow but it's true. The foul was a hard foul but legit. Did the injury have an effect on the game, sure it did. But let's be honest the game would have been closer, but Nova still wins. Not much you can do when a guy is nailing three pointers 5 feet behind the line with a hand in his face.

I am disappointed in the X posters, who are taking shots at Nova. While you are a small minority, you are making out proud University look bad. When some one beats you like this it is hard to take, I would hope that are fan base would be mature enough to tip our hat to Nova, and comeback ready for the Rematch at the Cintas center.

Of course I am disappointed in the few Nova fans, that are putting down xavier in response. Being a sore loser is bad, being a sore winner is possibly worst. No sense rubbing salt in the wounds of an opponent. Thankfully the vast majority of Nova fans are classier. This was demonstrated by the standing o given to Sumner during the game.

But let's put this in real perspective for a second, it's sad that people can witness the scary injury to Edmund and the. act like this. After he went down, I was more worried about whether he would walk again then the outcome of a game. I wish more posters would worry about what is truely important. I'm disappointed by the lost today but at the end of the day it doesn't really make a differnce. I am sure that I speak for the vast majority of Xavier, Nova, Big East fans, and even Stever in wishing a fast and complete recovery for Edmund. Hopefully the few bad apples on message boards will come to their senses to.

To the Villanova fans, congratulations on your victory. I promise the game at Cintas will be a better one!

I respect the hell out of X. Damn glad we got the best BB program in OH into the nBE. Knew it was just a matter of time before both programs started butting heads. We've been proud programs for a long time and I don't think that'll change any time soon. Damn shame to see that kid hit the floor like that today; no one on either team or in either fan base wanted to see that happen.

In terms of the game a few things X had against it today:
1. This is the best team X faced to date. When another team can match or exceed your talent and intensity for the first time in the season sometimes it is a shock. We experienced that with Okl and UVA. It made us better. Today will make you better.
2. We shoot really well at the Pavillion. Familiar site lines, familiar rims. If the game was at the WellsnFargo Ctr Inwould have been concerned. I went into today supremely confident. We don't just win at the Pavillion we usually undress teams there. Bad break in that regard.
3. X needs to figure out how to take away the 3 pt line from Nova. Last year in 3 games we hit 37 3's vs you guys. Seemed like we had 20 today. One game shooting anomaly today?--just sort of. But this is not a new thing in this series. Mack needs to figure that part of the game out at the Cintas.
4. This reminds me of the Wragge game in the sense that Nova was undefeated, got a really good ranking and then were brought right back to reality. I think the same happened today. X is a great team and will learn from it and improve.

Lastly lost in all of this is two Top 5 RPI teams inns serious college basketball heavyweight showdown. 3 years into this marvelous new conference and it felt like old times in the BE when L'ville or Cuse came to town.

Glad Sumner is OK. 'Til our next tilt...
Go Nova!
