If McDermott wins NPOY where will he rank in Big East lore?

McDermott is not better than Mullin (no "S") or Ewing. It was those players along with Pearl Washington at Syracuse that got the Big East into the Garden for the BET. Creighton fans should enjoy the fact they have the player of the year and not worry about his standing in Big East lore.

for the record, this string was not started by a Creighton fan, and I think it was almost to the third page before any Creighton fan weighed in. Although it is an interesting topic and several of us did weigh in eventually on the topic, I don't think any Creighton fan is really worried about how Doug fits into Big East lore. We are just really enjoying the season and watching this group of seniors who have been so much fun to watch the past few years. Doug's lore will be determined in the years to come. Believe me, we are much more concerned about winning a Big East title this year, getting a good seed, and then making it past the first weekend in the tournament.

I think you guys will get past the first week no problem. I would love to see you guys play Cuse as I think you woul do a good job against their zone. I doubt you would be in the same region as them as you should both be high seeds. I think you guys go Elite 8.

In general, i think it is incredibly idiotic to compare players from different generations. Who is/was better at basketball, LeBron or MJ? LeBron is clearly better. He would torch MJ, just like the best player 20 years from will be significantly better than LeBron.

Furthermore, "lore", to me, requires team success. IMO, it has very little to do with individual talent.

Um, why couldn't they be in the same region? If one is a 1 and one is a 2, what would stop the committee from putting them together?

I though they try to keep the top seeds closer to their regions. So If Cuse is a 1 or 2 and Creighton is a 2 I would think Creighton would get a region closer to the mid-west while Cuse stays in the east.

true but there's a lot of possible midwest 2's if you know what I mean.

Just looking at ESPN bracketology for yesterday..
1's- Arizona(w), Florida(s), Syracuse(e), and Wichita(mw)

they have for 2's-
Creighton, Duke, Wisconsin, and Kansas.

they put Duke in the south. Kansas I'm assuming they have as the top mw 2 so they keep them in the mw. They shipped Wisconsin east and Creighton west- but it wouldn't be a shocker to see them flipped.

CU has a potential trump card if Wichita gets the MW 1 seed - it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they stick us opposite them.

I think they would give it to the highest #2 seed. If Kansas was #5 on the s-curve(which they probably would be)- they would get the Midwest.

Just an FYI. Doug is 57 points away from 3,000 career points. He could get it on Senior Night in Omaha. If that does not happen, it will almost certaintly occur during Creighton's first game in the BET at the Garden. Either would be pretty damn cool.
