But consider the fan experience, too. Not very many good viewing areas for the fans at that place. They even commented on that during yesterday's telecast, with the President of the USGA mentioning that they'll have to look at that issue following the tournament. IF it generated bad sight lines and viewing areas for the fans, it made Fox's job in shooting the telecast that much harder as well.
Even with that in play, I thought Fox did a great job. I agree with everyone's comments about bombastic Johnny Miller; Greg Norman was a breath of fresh air.
It was a great finish on a crappy course set against beautiful natural scenery. As for Dustin Johnson, Tom Weiskopf said it best: "Dustin Johnson is going to have to find a way to get past this." He was shaky all day with the flat stick, and it did him in in spectacular fashion at the end.
Great point on the shooting of the telecast being difficult because of the course itself...
Fox especially for a first time out did a great job. I think one thing pretty interesting, some of their things, like the shot tracker, I think will serve them so much better on a "normal" US Open type of course.
Fox I think in some ways got lucky no playoff today. It would have started at 3pm et and with the WWC set for 8pm, could have gotten very dicey there- would have cut into the pregame.
