I'm honestly torn on this. If it happens (and the momentum is in that direction) I think the Big East benefits overall. Any school that is the only game in town will benefit big time (looking at you, PC and CU). Any school that has deep rooted community support will benefit (VU, MU, XU). The schools in the biggest markets have a chance to profit massively if they can get some momentum before it is enacted (DU, GU, SJU, SHU, BU) (Nova is also in a huge market but they have other advantages). The biggest winner will probably be UConn since they have an entire state to themselves with no pro teams and no other major college competition. Only UConn has football to worry about, but we know where their priorities are, so the rest of the Big East will be able to sell the BMOC angle.
I do worry about long-term fan engagement when there are only about 80 schools in the country that dominate the talent market, but I guess casualties are inevitable.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
