Exactly. Plus the Big East was rated by many metrics as the #2 conference behind the Big 12. Safe to say that simply "winning the ones we were supposed to as higher seeds" was a pretty big boost for the BE compared to the B12.

Except for the 1-16 and the 2-15, you can mostly throw the seeds out the window when the games start. Especially true in matchups like 6-11 games which are pretty much tossups.

Butler has never lost to a lower seeded team. Ever.

Since 2010, Butler is 4-1 in short turnaround games for opportunities to play in the Sweet 16 or Final 4. The one loss was to Marquette in a close game.

Since 2000, Butler is 6-3 in short turnaround games for opportunities to play in the Sweet 16 or Final 4.

Butler has won 6-consecutive games vs. Notre Dame.

All signs point to a tempo-war. If Butler keeps it a half-court game, I like the Dawgs.

Was a great day one.
Now we need the Friars to get it done today and for some of us to take care of business this weekend.

Another good thing is that these were not that close of games for the big east. Besides butler and texas (which was still an 8 point win in a game where butler was terrible on offense) the big east won each of their games by double digits. Xavier looked great, Georgetown looked great until they started getting lazy down the stretch, and Villanova looked like a one seed in a blowout win. Yesterday was really the best case scenario for the league lets just hope we can keep it up.

He is a college kid, they make mistakes, but this is the same clown who was thrown out of a couple of games for a complete cheap shot and has had other issues as well. Just very selfish. St. John's is solid but they are not deep at all, especially when it comes to bigs. Obepka is going to be a blow and I think St. John's is going to be in trouble because of it. With Obepka I believed they even had a shot at Duke. Now, not so much. I'll be rooting for them regardless!

Calm down, it just shows that Lavin and the SJU program has more class than other universities. Jameis Winston was suspended a HALF for stealing from a store.

He's not a clown, just a kid who has made some mistakes. I'm sure when you were in college you never did ANYTHING stupid.

I'm so sick of grown adults looking down their noses at college kids for their actions, like they were angels who always carried themselves with nothing but class and dignity every single day on this earth. Give me a break.

It's not even going to take a lot of weirdness now for the Big East to pass the Big 12 for #1

actually it would. 1 point at this point of the season is a huge difference.

Dude, Obepka, really? The kid has put you into some bad positions. I hate people who treat 22 year olds like 5 year olds and cry about fair criticism. He is a young man now. Time to smarten up. The kid wasn't thinking about his teammates and the program when he made the decision he did and you guys are now screwed because of it. Let's face it, there is no guarantee SJU will be back to the dance next year and you haven't danced in a few years. You finally make it back and Obepka put a damper on the joy you felt immediately.

Obekpa is of no concern. The Johnnies still have their primary rim protector.
