Seton Hall just didn't want this one enough. That's the only way you give up 18 offensive boards, by being lazy and getting outworked. And that's the reason they lost. Getting ranked was probably the worst thing that could have happened to this team- they weren't ready for it and they really just aren't that good. Maybe in a year or 2, but they're still a ways off.

Thanks for the kind words.

You guys will be fine. We had absolutely no answer for Gibbs.

great road win for the Dawgs. BU has rebounded well all year, especially offensive rebounds.

But we only have Gibbs- which is why I'm not so confident we'll be fine. He was our only player to hit a field goal in the first 16 minutes of the second half, and the team completely wilted after he fouled out. Hopefully Whitehead's return (expected to be next game) has a huge impact because if the Pirates keep relying on Gibbs to do everything he's gonna get worn out and they're gonna drop like a rock in the Big East standings.

Edit* Apparently Whitehead will not be back next game. Reports now are that he's out 2 more weeks, which means he'll also miss the DePaul game and the Butler rematch before hopefully making an earliest possible return at Marquette.

Butler's D has a way of making guys disappear. Delgado/Gibbs/Whitehead/Mobley is a nice 4. SH is a top half team.

They could possibly finish in the top half, but it's no guarantee. I could realistically see them finishing anywhere from 4-7 in the Big East, if I had to take a guess I'd say 5 or 6. Unfortunately, the hot start to BE play with the wins over SJU and Villanova blew expectations for this SHU team up to unrealistic levels, which is why losing this game was initially so infuriating. But stepping back to look at it objectively, there's no shame in losing a close basketball game to Butler. Especially for a team with 8 freshmen who's most talented player is out with an injury. Seton Hall was never going to compete for a regular season championship this year, the 1st two games just got a bunch of fans (myself included) a little to excited and made us forget that.

Hoyas up 44-39 at the half. Both teams shooting lights out so far.

DePaul is really playing in-your-face defense. They really are formidable, don't know why they lose so many games in the OOC.

The Jonesmeiter can't be stopped. He has the ugliest shot in D1, but he gets it done. Spanarkel was a good analyst. He is the first one to comment on why Jones' shot is so hard to block. Fox needs more like him.

The 3 1/2 minute delay at the end of regulation was pitiful. These delays will be the ruin of college basketball. Yes, it took 3.5 minutes to figure out that the ball was Butler's and then they added 0.4 seconds to the clock. It took the announcers and the audience one replay (15 seconds?) to see that the ball was Butler's. Just play the game!!! So they added 0.4 seconds to a clock that was arbitrarily started 35 seconds ago. Was the shot clock started precisely on time? Who knows. Just Play The Game!!!! It isn't just this game. It is all the games.

Odd u mention that, I have actually thought that maybe replays have not helped sports. If you watch the NBA, the replays are absolutely grating and almost kill all flow in the most import parts of the game. Just let the refs make the calls, they will miss some. So be it.
