How irrelevant is the CBB regular season?

NEVER change the format, please. The NCAA tourney is one of the best things sport has to offer. And when you finish with a top 5 RPI and won the tourney, there really should not be much of a debate as to whether a team is worthy of being called best. If not them, then who? If anything the committee should have been blasted for how they seeded UCONN.
