I'm glad this game happened. It needed to. There are too many insanely optimistic SJ fans out there especially on redmen.com who have no idea how bad this team really is. Thank god we didn't make the tourney. We'd lose by 30. We lose 1 player for tonsillitis and we are down 22 at half to a bum mid major. PC loses like 3-4 players including top recruits and McDonald's All-American's and they win the Big East tourney. What is wrong with this picture? If we miss one starter we turn into a D-II team it seems like. Wtf? There is more than enough talent on this team to still crush Robert Morris.

This game proves either A) this team is never winning with Lavin or B) this team does not care and will never win.

There was a debate on the other forum whether or not our season was an embarrassment. Most said no. Now it's an obvious yes. We just got blown to crap by Robert effing Morris. 1 seed vs. 8 seed. Committees will take note of this and see us as a pretender if we make any tourney from now on. Worst 1 seed ever in NIT history? Possibly.

People say teams like Virginia went to the NIT then used it as a major stepping stone to win the ACC and go into the tourney as a 1 seed. What they forget to mention is that they actually went VERY deep into the NIT last year and crushed us. The past 2 years and 1 win in the NIT vs. St. Joe's and even that one came on a miracle buzzer beating shot.

This team is a mess. Our players are pussies. Tonsillitis? Dental work? GET YOUR BUTT IN THE GAME. This team always has someone suspended, out for personal reasons, injured, or a spur of the moment freak thing like tonsillitis. The black cloud in Queens is not going away until Lavin does.

Turning into a beat down now. Great job by GT showing up tonight and beating a decent B12 team. WVU has wins against Kansas, ISU, Baylor, Oklahoma and KState.

Makes me call into question how highly ranked the B12 has been this year.

When was the last non-exhibition game G-town played at McDonough Gym?

I know Seton Hall played in Walsh Gym for the NIT a few years ago.

Huggins was my least favorite coach in the BE.

Someone call Lavin and let him know the NIT started 4 hours ago.

I wouldn't mind if they fired Lavin this off-season if the right person is available. He is a decent recruiter but a bad coach.

I was at my night class so I couldn't catch the first half of the game but I had my laptop on my desk and checked the score. I saw "44-22" and immediately assumed "Oh, good...we are crushing a team we should be". Then I took a closer look and saw the 44 belonged to Robert Morris. My professor asked me if everything was ok, so my reaction must have been pretty obvious.

Fact is this team cannot win a game that truly matters. This team cannot gel. These recruits are severely overrated. And finally, this team will never and I said never succeed with Lavin here. He really is just a businessman that knows how to deceive people masterfully enough to get a job which he is not competent in. I don't care if we start 5 McDonald's AA's. Hell, I don't care if we had Wiggins, Parker, and Gordon. We'd still suck with Lavin. Right now I'm more hopeful that the Islanders will win the Stanley Cup within the next 5 years than St. John's making the NCAA's again. It's not that hard guys. It's tough but lots of teams do it...Jesus Christ. Just beat the teams you should and win a few god damn games against top 25 opponents. It's not easy but it's not impossible like this program makes it seem. Given our talent, the question shouldn't be whether or not we make the tourney, it should be how far we go. Never having expectations for this team ever again with Lavin coaching. In my entire 4 years of undergrad and my 3 years of grad school SJ made the tourney 1 time. None of those times while I was a student at SJ.

Our perception is extremely weak now. Glad PC won, and SHU got the upset, and DePaul got the upset, but the truth is those can't be the ones leading the way if we want to be taken seriously. What a terrible first year so far. Our only hope is Nova or Creighton making a deep run. But that seems very unlikely the way things have played out recently.

RIP old Big East.

The next time some one is forced to defend the AL East it becomes much harder because they can say the 2 premier teams sucked. Same goes for the Big East. It is what it is, right or wrong the engine of this conference goes through SJ, G'Town, Nova, and Marquette.
Al McGuire: "What is this?"
Waiter: "Mr. McGuire, that is a cull lobster. Sometimes when the lobsters are in the tank, they fight. This one lost a claw."
Al McGuire: "Well then take this one away and bring me the winner."

2009 when I was a student 2005-2009 we played 1 OOC game a year at McDonough and it's always awesome. Wish we would do it, but JT3 said after the game that due to financial constraints we can't afford to do it anymore. They also had a NIT game there in 2004-2005 season that I attended. They put in some extra bleachers for that game and said screw the fire marshall and had people standing in the isles it was incredible. Wish they would play there more often or were able to build a propper 7-10,000 on seat arena. We'd have such a better atmosphere. But that will never happen.
