Cotton, and it is not close. However, i am not quite sure I would pick him first for my pg if I were building a team from scratch. I have never liked teams built around a pg as their primary scoring threat.

I agree Randy. I typically want a Rondo rather than a Derrick Rose. However, in the case of Cotton- He leads the BEAST in assists by a wide margin. So if he was playing pg on a well rounded team, he could cut back on his ppg and maybe even increase the assists. He demonstrated how good a scorer he was last year when he led the league in ppg- I am surprised by how good a facilitator he has been this year.

I look at some of these lists in posts and find it hard to believe that Chatman falls out of the top 5, but I also can see the reasons those picked in front of him are. His toughness and consistency is one of the most under appreciated things in the whole conference, even by Jays fans. For obvious reasons other Jays get all the credit, but their O doesn't flow when Chatman is in foul trouble or has a rare off game. If he's in the bottom half of PG in the conference, then the conference is very underrated at that spot.

Chatman is the 4th Creighton player I think of (behind Dougie, Gibbs, and Wragge) and he has the 3rd highest usage rate among starters. Other teams are much more reliant on their point guards, so it stands to reason that people rank Chatman lower.

That's a totally logical analysis. The Jays have other weapons offensively. But anybody who has watched Creighton consistently knows how solid Chatman is at PG. Ultra-quick, great ball handler, great defender, really good A/TO ratio (he had 8 assists to 1 turnover against Villanova yesterday). He'll have his chance to shine offensively next year along with Brooks. But can't argue with the other PG's listed.
