This is the best answer I think. The pendulum constantly swings back and forth. And the Big East has a track record of strengthening programs. I don't see any of the 10 of us fading.

I get the line of questioning, but I think these three have shown they will be successful. It's the St Johns and Depauls of the league that I worry about.

How the hell are we supposed to "Fade" when we've been stuck in the MVC for 30 years and haven't gone to the third round of the modern era NCAA tourney? Creighton is just starting our "emergence," just like the city of Omaha, a clean, well-planned, cultural small city with tremendous growth potential. Huge, decaying rust belt cities with traffic jams, brownfields and blight? No thanks. I'm mostly scared of Georgetown going the way of St. Johns and DePaul and most of the C7... that's the definition of "Fade away."

Why would you be afraid of that? The Hoyas have the #11 recruiting class in the nation coming in next year. Georgetown is going to be fine.

I think the concern with Creighton is obviously next year will be a down year compared to this year. I think everyone can agree on that.

I don't think any of the teams will fade in the sense of being terrible. But it's not unreasonable that Creighton will go from a top 25 and tournament team to a non tournament team next year. And it is still TBD for Creighton to prove they can back to the top 25 NCAA tournament level year in and year out after that happens. Again I'm not expecting anyone to become the next DePaul. Fade just means not consistently making the NCAA tournament year after year in my book. I think Georgetown, Villanova, Marquette, and Xavier will consistently make the NCAA tournament. The BE will consistently get 4-6 bids a year. So That leaves 2 spots max for the remaining 6 teams. There's a lot more competition for NCAA bids than in the MVC or in the A10.

Yea this seems like troll bait. "Oh, X is 3-1, Creighton is 4-0 and Butler is 0-4. I wonder which seems best? I will make a thread about it."

Xavier won't fade. They will join Marquette, Georgetown, and Villanova as the standard-bearers of this league.

Creighton and Butler will be fine, but likely be up and down and won't make the tournament some years where they would have before in the their old league. Would really like DePaul and St. John's to step up. Lavin is starting to be on the hot seat, right?

Creighton's recruiting classes the past 4 years were not only unranked, they were pretty much uncharted. Our "unranked" recruiting class is now ranked in the top 20. All the ranked recruiting classes of the C7, except for Nova are unranked. Enjoy your recruiting class ranks, I'll enjoy our AP and USAToday rank thank you.

Not really troll bait, just trying to re-heat last years debate... stale leftovers.

Now we're TEN Big East teams. WE ARE ALL "IN" and one great conference. I'm not scared of any of the teams' futures. Hell, let's all just be glad that we have 5 solid teams that look like they could be in (I'm adding Marquette to the 4 now in). DePaul looks like they have a pulse and could actually get out of the Big East cellar with Purnell (I really like that guy) and their new arena is extremely exciting.

This thread is really dumb... why talk about fading now?

Yea, as far as I am concerned, we should all be rooting each other on. We are going to be together for at least the next 10 years.

The only real debate would be possible additions, but that is a fun conversation to have, its like picking the best fruits in your garden.

Georgetown has been ranked each of the last 8 years in a row and has reached top 10 in the AP/Coaches rankings at some point of the year in each of the last 7 years too. Year's not over yet and I wouldn't be surprised if Georgetown was ranked at some point in the year to make it 9 straight years. There is nothing out there that indicates Georgetown will not be a top team going forward.
