Shout out to dePaul for a great effort on the road on short rest.

Man Butler just can't get a break to pull out a w.

The first part is the key for me. DePaul looked pretty darn good which surprised me.

DePaul has had some close calls early in the conference season before tonight. Georgetown was a close game but DePaul couldn't hit a free throw to save their life seemingly in the 2nd half. Marquette they were in a battle with for most of the game, and same with Creighton. Next up for them- St John's.

I turned on the game late second half and found myself rooting for Depaul for some reason- maybe because they have had a rough last few years. Butler is finding out about life in the Big East, no easy games. For Butler, this seriously impacts their tourny resume. I found this game very similar to PC's loss to Seton Hall. Both lost to the teams predicted to finish 9/10 in the league..AT HOME. Huge damage to NCAA chances as bad losses at home are costly. But it shows the difficulty of the league. I do think the parity will hurt the chances of getting a 5th bid though.

Being a Friar fan does that to you. I constantly find myself pulling for the underdogs despite conference impact. We know what it is like to be kicked around for a decade.

Holy crap. Nice to win a game like that for a change.

That, boys and girls, might be the biggest win of the Oliver Purnell Era.

Yeah- Butler really in trouble now. RPI now up to 82(up 22 spots since Monday). What's worse for Butler is they have 2 home losses already. Think Saturday's game is close to a must win for Butler to have any NCAA chances- 3 home losses in 1st 4 games would not be good.

It was really an awesome game and a great effort by DePaul against a decent Butler team. I was more than a little annoyed that I couldn't watch Xavier while the game kept going, but the entertainment value was probably worth it.
