If UVA can get to 20 wins, with the schedule they have(only 3 games with teams that have fewer than 8 wins, only 6 with fewer than 9 wins right now)- That kind of SOS will carry the day all the time.

Tennessee still with a really good shot to make the tourney as well. 8-4 so far with only UTEP maybe as a bad loss(though UTEP could run thru CUSA I think). Good wins over Xavier, Wake, and UVA.

Tennessee also has a loss to Xavier.

Virginia also has a loss to Green Bay, and they only play 1 game each and none that they'll win vs Syracuse, Duke, UNC and Pitt. So they have a terrible loss to GB, a dismantling vs Tenn, have 2 home losses, haven't beaten anyone, and will be lucky to hit 500 in-conference. And like 5 ACC teams have RPI's over 150, some which Virginia has to play twice. Forget about Virginia.

Tennessee and Xavier help each other with every game they win since they split their games.

Green Bay is not a bad loss(right now RPI #68, Ken Pom #84- on the road). not by any stretch of the imagination. Ken Pom has them projected to go 11-7 in conference play and RPI forecast has the same. If they do that, they have a RPI around 44 and like it or not, that's in the tourney. Now, they may get downgraded a smidge after tonight, we'll see tomorrow. Tonight's loss to Tennessee 1 spot better than Green Bay in the RPI.

a big loss tonight for us was actually Vandy losing to SLU.

The other thing UVA will have the benefit of is having shots against ranked teams. just looking they'll have at least 4 and maybe 6 games against ranked teams. Oh and the ACC looking tonight has 1 team with a RPI over 150- that's BC at 154. They do have 5 others over 100 though. UVA has 8 games against teams ranked 100 or worse. If they go 8-0 in those and can get 2-3 other wins, they're going to have 20-21 wins. Got 2 with Notre Dame and a home with Wake and a road with NC St. They'll have their shots for sure. Can't say at all they're out right now at all...

UVA is done and I can say that now.

And Vandy never had a shot at the tourney so who cares they lost. They lost too much to injury and transfer before the season started to be a real threat for the tournament.

Sometimes you have to forget the numbers and use common sense. Sure theoretically there's a chance if bad teams suddenly become good teams, but that doesn't really happen. Is it possible yes, but for all intents and purposes you can write off teams that have played poorly to this point as actual threats to make the tournament.

Um no on UVA To say that UVA is just done at this point- with their schedule in ACC where they are projected at their lowest point to go 10-8- is foolish. They aren't done by any stretch.

Vandy losing kills PC. it's PC's best OOC win. Probably makes it where 11-7 is required to make tourney for them.

the thing with the ACC- and we know it from the Old Big East- with 15 teams- someone is going to win 11-12 conference games that will force their way into the tourney. Think USF a couple years ago.

Thanks but I'm not willing to trash our season to help others. We need to step up and make some real noise. We have the talent and are a senior laden team. Once everyone returns from their injuries we should really be able to do some damage. I hope it happens.

I don't mind being somebody else's bad loss. :)
