You got that right. As I said last night- Georgetown #2 now almost just out of default.

Only if you ignore Northeastern.

Doesn't seem unreasonable to ignore it after the way they've bounced back. Certainly looks like an anomaly.

I agree. They did bounce back and it does seem like an anomaly. But it still represents 17% of their performance so far and that's a lot to ignore with such a small data set. If they go another month without any bumps in the road, then I'd toss it, but right now we don't know if it's an indicator of a team that will be inconsistent and will repeat that sort of off night again from time to time. Given Gerogetown's history in recent years, it doesn't seem to be such an anomaly. They do have a tendency to fall asleep on the job from time to time . Unfortunately too often it's been at tournament time.

1. Villanova
2. Georgetown
3. Creighton
4. Marquette
5. Providence
6. Butler
7. St. John's
8. Xavier
9. DePaul
10. Seton Hall

This could also bee done in tiers

1) Villanova (cream of the crop right now)
2) Georgetown/Creighton (solid)
3) Marquette/Butler/Providence (need statement win-more to prove)
4) St. John's (needs to get over the hump)
5) Xavier/DePaul/Seton Hall (needs help-*Xavier totally let me down)

*I hate to put X down at the bottom but, they completely wet the bed this weekend.

No need to add the asterisk for X, as they wet and crapped the bed, and then rolled around in it. It feels unimaginable and unprecedented. Hopefully this is the low point of the season.

I'm really hoping that this Johnnies team plays full games or even the majority of their games like they played GT in the 2nd half. That team we saw is a clear tourney team. Jakarr finally drove to the hoop instead of settling for 15 foot jumpers that clanked out. He went 5/6 for FG's including an alley oop, and a few monster dunks. It doesn't even matter if he can finish...he is so athletic he can easily penetrate...he just needs to draw the fouls. If he finishes, even better. When Hooper and Harrison are hitting from outside, and Jordan, Branch, Harrison, and Sampson are driving to the hoop we will get good results. When we pressure teams we overwhelm them like we saw with GT. If we did that to Wisconsin we would have won. I won't hold my breath because this is St. John's I'm talking about...aka 1 tournament appearance and 0 tournament wins in over a decade and we always seem to have a black cloud hovering over us, but maybe just maybe we got out of our funk. The way we played in the 2nd half vs. GT was great as it was, and Jordan didn't even do much. Just imagine Jordan at his peak with Harrison and Hooper hitting 3's, and Sanchez plus Sampson down low. It seems every time this team appears ready to move on and get better, it takes 2 steps back, so I very well may end up eating my words soon. Going back to the Cuse game we are just SO overdue...it's been an eternity since we beat them. They are far from unbeatable. They have struggled vs. many much worse teams this year and you just get that feeling this isn't a typical Cuse team that railroads people by 30 pts. It's time to finally shut the Cuse fans up for once and take back NY instead of allowing the team 250 miles away on the Canadian border claim it.

It will be interesting to see how PC recovers from the UK loss. Dunn is never on the court and from what I've heard Austin may be out a while if not all season. That is a serious blow to them. If they beat UMass, they are the real deal. If not, then they should go back to being a 6th-7th type of team unless it's an OT game nail-biter.

You guys have no idea how badly I want SJ back in the top 25 consistently...it's been so long except that fluke 2011 year out of nowhere at the end of the season. When SJ is good, college hoops and especially the Big East is at its best. We need to finally live up to some semblance of our expectations whether that means being ranked, beating Cuse, or at the bare minimum making the tourney.
Let's Go Johnnies!

Butler is two free throws from at least getting votes and possibly ranked. Unthinkable after the losses from last season. I'm proud of them as an alum.

You should be proud. I was praying for them this weekend to beat Oklahoma State and LSU. Great Great games. I truly think those close losses will translate into wins down the road.

I agree but that stinks because they'll beat Big East teams and hurt our own league getting NCAA bids. If they'd win some of these games now the conference wins wouldn't sting us all as much later.

the thing is, we can say that about almost all the teams. Teams 7-10 are going to get some wins vs the top 6. You aren't going to go 8-0 vs 7-10.
