Here's thru the early games tonight my 9 conferences...
Big Ten 3-0
AAC 4-1
Big 12 4-2
A10 3-2
BE 2-2
MWC 1-1
ACC 4-6
P12 1-2
SEC 0-6

Not a great start at all for the SEC. It'll be interested when all is said and done if we are still at the low end of the number of games played.

as far as the other losses
BE 0
SEC 0
Big Ten 1
AAC 2
B12 2
A10 2
ACC 2
P12 2
MWC 5

So if you combine the B9 records along with the bad losses
B10 3-1
AAC 4-3
B12 4-4
BE 2-2
A10 3-4
ACC 4-8
P12 1-4
MWC 1-6
SEC 0-6

so I'd say we've not had a great start, but not a bad one. Like I was looking today on Ken Pom, and ACC's rating was down under .8000(they started at like .805 if memory serves me right. Also, MWC having a really bad start, which really helps us out a lot in looking for extra bids. I know saw CBS today updated their bracketology after the Champions Classic and Xavier was added today. The only negative so far to me this year is the start of the WCC- could maybe see them picking up the slack out west and getting 2-3 bids perhaps.

I'm thinking that X's win over Tenn is our highest ranked team defeated so far? (27th in poll voting)

I agree. I would argue the biggest win is still PC over BC. It was opening night and it would have been a home loss to a non-ranked P5 team also. I also think SHU's win over Kent St. is the toughest win so far for the BE. I base that on how tough & well Kent St. played at Temple in winning & at SHU in losing only 2 days later and the fact that Tennessee hasn't actually beat anyone this year yet.

You are going to have to explain to me the difference between biggest win and best win...

IMO, X's win is the best win of the conference so far. Of course, it was probably the ugliest as well. :)

I think Biggest win was Providence over BC. from a perception standpoint that was critical not to have gone 0-3 opening night in the biggest 3 games.

best win was Xavier over Tennessee. definitely the highest ranked team we've beaten(only team we've beaten that got votes this week in the coaches poll).

to the point about the scarcity of ranked teams...

by my count, our conference has 18 games OOC scheduled(non 2nd/3rd games in tournaments) against teams that were ranked in coaches poll.
Butler 0
Creighton 2 (Arizona St, Cal)
DePaul 2 (Arizona St, Wichita St)
Georgetown 3 (Oregon, Kansas, Michigan St)
Marquette 4 (Ohio St, Arizona St, Wisconsin, New Mexico)
Providence 2 (Kentucky, UMass)
Seton Hall 0
St Johns 2 (Wisconsin, Syracuse)
Villanova 1 (Syracuse)
Xavier 2 (Tennessee, Iowa)

we're 1-2 in those games so far. Got 1 more this weekend of course with Marquette/Ohio St.

All I mean is Tennessee received votes before they played 1 game, so who really knows how good a barometer they are for X. Kent St. went on the road and beat a decent Temple team and they played well tonight on the road again. As a SHU fan I feel confident we beat a good team tonight.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, here's a strange thought.
If you take the top 27 ranked teams, you incorporate Creighton and Tennessee into the top 25.

I don't think any of those teams has a loss to a team outside the top 25...except Tennessee to Xavier.
The losses other teams have experienced (Ky for example) have been to other ranked teams.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

Jeff Goodman:

"It was widely assumed ACC was best league in America this year. Not necessarily the case. UNC, Notre Dame, Maryland all upset today. BC 0-3."

Would have to concur with the distinguished BU/XU fan's thoughts on this one.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.

By far the most important game is the Vandy/Providence game. 1st rd of a bracket tournament. win and they see La Salle/Maryland potentially. Lose and it's Morgan St/Loyola Marymount maybe.
