Nova had their yearly blue - white game last week so we were able to catch a glimpse. A bit ragged at times but good to see them out there. Gillespie looks almost back to old self after the injury. Moore was Moore, Samuels quiet but solid. Daniels and Slater both looked really good. Dixon, pretty good. Young guys are young. BA, Longino, Njoku all hurt.
Every year Jay says he’ll extend his bench and ends up with a 7-7.5 man rotation. Expect the same as season progresses. Dixon-Gillespie-Moore-Daniels-Samuels. Antoine and Slater. The 7.5/ 8th? Prob Patterson but potentially Lil Arch, Longino or Nanna Njoku. Brizzi prob redshirt IMO.
No surprise we’re going to be a 3 point shooting team. Other than Njoku, every Nova player will have the green light from 3. So expect to see us spread the floor, and fire. Any post up game will come from guards; Dixon is more of a face up 4/5 than a post player. We’ll give up points to teams with a strong 5 for sure. D and rebounding will be a team effort. With the exception of Antoine the top 7 are all thick/strong wing players in that 6’4 -6’7 range. So seeing Daniels, Moore, Samuels or Slater defend the post at times will not be a surprise. JRE did everything for us and will be missed but he also shot under 30% from 3. Can’t replace him but can ease the pain if we get better outside shooting from that 5 spot. We’ll win big when hitting 3’s and may struggle if/when cold. Nova hoops; rinse, repeat.
Can’t wait to catch the other conf teams in their first action. Please share links if available.

Encouraging to read this caption: Dieonte Miles emerges.
Steele mentioned strong guard play: "And our guard play has been tremendous. Really, really good with Paul, Colby, Dwon, AK (Adam Kunkel), all those guys have been great, and Nate has returned to form really well, he's more athletic than he was last year."
Our B1G transfers received high praise.
Freemantle is in a boot. Week to week and won't be rushed back.
Freshman Elijah Tucker to redshirt.
Overall, an encouraging assessment, but with the obvious statement being made - - Steele has the talent, now he needs to win at a level that gets X back to the NCAAT.

Sounds very encouraging Dash... you guys are due to get back in the dance and I think will have a very good year. Certainly top half, if not top 3 of the league.
