Oh hell yes...Bring 'em on in. I can envision a steady stream of incoming transfers to the Hilltop. Would definitely reduce the stress
of having to heavily recruit 4 year Frosh...many of which would invariably enter the transfer portal anyways. EXCEPT for the arcane, antiquated, and
assinine Big East rule of no intraconference transfers, including LOI's of incoming frosh. But I digress...

Would be an interesting recruiting landscape.

Might have to add some provisions to that. Like if the coach quits, maybe not allowing transfer to where the coach is headed to. I think I'd favor a reduced sitting out time for transferring.

I’d like to see players with similar stats (within 2.2 points/rebounds) and coaches with similar salaries (within 2.2 million) be able to “switch” teams at any time during the season or during halftime of an actual game, including March Madness. It will prepare our new generations for how we as Americans view loyalty and dedication.

If there was a "LIKE" button I couldn't hit it quick enough!

Absent a coach leaving for LOIers and hardship cases a transfer & play option is just a terrible idea. The net effect would likely be negligible with players within the top 100 teams moving both ways, sleeper players possibly transferring up and disenfranchised players transferring down up and down throughout the ranks. The loser? The kids that a college degree & the relationships they build while attending their chosen school because for many that will be a difference maker for the rest of their life.

NCAA takes step toward allowing one-time transfers for athletes without sitting out - Ben Kercheval & Dennis Dodd, CBS Sports - February 18, 2020

The NCAA's Transfer Waiver Working Group on Tuesday announced a concept is under consideration that would allow undergraduate student athletes in all sports to transfer once without sitting out of competition for one year.

The concept comes on the heels of the an initial proposal from the Big Ten last year, which was publicly supported by the ACC on Monday. The three remaining Power Five conferences (Big 12, SEC, Pac-12) were expected to discuss the proposal at their respective spring meetings, according to CBS Sports.

That the issue has gotten this far, less than a year since the Big Ten raised the concept, is amazing in the sluggish world of NCAA legislation. The NCAA Board of Directors put a moratorium on any transfer legislation in October.

Last month, CBS Sports first reported that the Big Ten had developed its proposal. Less than three weeks later, Tuesday's NCAA press release indicated a possible sea change in transfer legislation.

The working group will, at the minimum, submit a report to the council in April. Whether it will be a final report remains to be seen.

Speculation and Conjecture:

1. The Big East has visibly become a target for The Big Ten.

2. Not a single P5-conference basketball coach is happy with the Big East being ranked as the country’s beat basketball conference.

3. The Big Ten schools collectively cannot out-recruit the Big East schools, nor can they collectively out-coach the Big East schools. This is a serious problem for them, as the Big East is grabbing too many ‘good’ seeds in the NCAA Tournament that should rightfully go to Big Ten schools.

4. Therefore, the only way to ‘take out‘ the Big East is an annual raid on the Big East’s best upperclassmen and most promising freshmen. In the long term, this strategy should work if it is not prevented.

5. Every year, the American Athletic Conference, Atlantic 10, and Gonzaga produce many players that P5-conference coaches would covet – upperclassmen who are good enough to start on many P5-conference teams. But the Big East Conference has by far the most players who would be coveted by the top P5-conference schools, and therefore, the Big East Conference has the highest risk of having the most players raided by P5-conference schools each year.

6. If the ‘no-wait’ transfer rule DOES come into effect, the most likely result is that P5-conference coaches will stop scouting and recruiting all but the Top 25 high school prospect each year, and will instead fill their rosters with freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who have already proven their abilities at schools in ‘lesser’ conferences.

I'm not sure I see it. Most players that wind up at Big East schools are recruited by those same schools. They chose us.
