*Unofficial I believe since I think that, being a round robin tournament, the HoF Tipoff doesn't actually crown a champion (correct me if I'm wrong), but Providence ran the table so we're claiming it as a preseason tournament championship.

So that makes the Big East 2-for-2 in preseason tournaments. I fully expect this to be 9-for-9 when all is said and done. Would be 10, but unfortunately Georgetown and Butler are in the same tournament so only 1 can win it (hopefully they'll meet in the final).

So that's 2 down, 7 to go. Keep it up boys!

Nova should win the Legends, Xavier should win wooden, and Creighton should win Emerald, but none of the others are winning their tournaments. Georgetown has a small chance, but Wisconsin will be very tough. Marquette has no chance nor does DePaul, St. John's is very doubtful.

Marquette is in the Orlando Classic with Michigan State and Kansas. It would take a tectonic shift or multiple meteors hitting team buses for MU to win that tournament.
Al McGuire: "What is this?"
Waiter: "Mr. McGuire, that is a cull lobster. Sometimes when the lobsters are in the tank, they fight. This one lost a claw."
Al McGuire: "Well then take this one away and bring me the winner."

Xavier SHOULD win the Wooden but the last 4 holiday tournaments for us have gone about as miserable as possible, including a first round loss to Pacific a few years ago in a previous version of this tourney.

Despite how great X has looked so far, I will remain cautiously optimistic going into this one.

I stand corrected, I didn't see anything about crowning a champion with a quick glance at the HoF tipoff website.

It's a weird tournament, I didn't care for how it was structured but they have 2 divisions if you will, the "Springfield" division had the lesser programs and they traveled for road games against the 4 teams in the "Naismith" division (ND, FSU, PC, Umass) in the opening two games of the tournament for each team. All the teams then played 2 more games at Mohegan sun with a champion of each division being crowned on Sunday. I think there was a chance there could have been a tie but that didn't happen. Past champions of the Naismith division were North Carolina, Ohio State and Kentucky. Not sure why their website doesn't list this. Good venue not the best organized.

Now kindly remove the asterisk from PC! :D
