Creighton at St. Joes

Bluejays have our first steak dinner after two cupcakes.
Here's a few tidbits:
1. Series tied 5-5
2. We ruined their season last year with an 80-51 gut punch in Omaha. Phil Martelli, always good for a quote:
"We thought we were pretty good, and we got it handed to us from the jump ball,” Martelli said. “It put us on a psychological rocker that we never really recovered from. None of us responded well to that, but that was last year’s team and last year’s game.”
3. They have a raucus crowd
4. They got dissed by the Big East
5. Our President, Father Lannon, was a longtime president at St. Joe, and helped continue their basketball focus--he was there during their #1 ranking. (Fr. Lannon graduated from Creighton in the 1970s when CU had Eddie Sutton, was a national power and had a good rivalry with Al McGuire at Marquette... he's a huge fan of the game and is the #1 reason we're in the Big East.)

As a Creighton fan, I see this as a loss tonight.

I don't follow St Joes basketball, but they will be a tough team to play at home. Philly is a basketball town and whether it is Temple, St Joes, or LaSalle.... Nova fans will tell you none of those teams are ever a cakewalk. But on the other hand, ST Joes is down these past 2 years and they can't match Creighton with comparable talent. Good luck!!

St. Joes was always a tough place to play for X. If Creighton is as good as many of us think, they need to win these types of games where there's a lot more to lose than there is to win. Good luck!

I'm cautiously optimistic, but if someone were to give me a 1 point win right now I think I'd do a backflip.

I'm a little surprised with some of your reactions.

CU is picked to finished high in the Big East. St Joe's was picked to finish 5th in the A10 this year.

I understand it's an away game, but we certainly need for any and every head-to-head contest between these conferences to go our way. I can see where the bandbox nature of their place may be a concern, not to mention the attractiveness of your scalp as a win, but, then again, you guys are used to playing in front of huge crowds.

Just go in there and consider it quaint and get the job done.

Doug nailed an and-1 go-ahead jumper with 5 seconds left, then Devin Brooks stole the inbounds pass and sealed the deal with two clutch throws.

Great game, great atmosphere, great win for the Jays.

St. Joes is going to be in the NCAA this year, I guarantee it.

St. Joe is picked anywhere from 5th to 8th in the A-10, depending on which preseason scribe you care to listen to. I seriously doubt the A-10 gets 5 in the field. If they do, we're in serious trouble.
