anyone projecting the jays as a 3-6 seed is drinking too much of gtmo's special brew, thinking that justin will be as impactful as a one and done type. The team is an imposing low post presence from being a top echelon BE team, but JP might not be there for another season or so. skinny big men usually take awhile to make a solid impression on the court. That said, considering the team was about 15-20 points away from an at large bid this past season, and they add a talented freshman and marcus foster, the expectation should absolutely be a tourney appearance. Anything less will be a disappointment.
Doug's sophomore year, the team had an experienced point guard and a couple very good shooters (plus Doug who averaged 23 and shot 50% on 3's). They got somewhat hosed with an 8 seed and second round matchup against Ames alumni Harrison Barnes. That team also had a dominant post presence in Venezuelan mammoth Gregory Echenique. Every player on that team had concrete blocks for feet and the entire offense was predicated on successfully feeding the ball to Doug. I would expect next year's team to be better than that team, but possibly not by much.
