Hired by Coach Mac to replace Patrick Sellers who went to Depaul. Great hire IMO. Got EC Mathews to URI and Top 150 player AJ Turner to BC (their first top 150 player since 2007). Great recruiter of Michigan and northeast. Supposedly a very hard worker and great guy. PC guys should be familiar with him.

Jet, your post i read at Bluejay Underground was great, with links to the URI fan message boards. Preston Murphy is considered a top recruiter and it was a big loss for URI. i was surprised to see him leave his alma mater for BC, cuz theyre a trainwreck, but the money must've been good.

Bottom line, this is an outstanding hire for Creighton. Keeps the Big East mojo strong... on so many fronts the 10 of us are hitting homeruns. Murphy was on many Friar shortlists to replace Bob Simon, before we hired Jeff Battle. Congrats!!!

Oh yeah, also, im pretty sure he was on the URI staff under Jim Baron. He may have been the only guy that Dan Hurley retained because of his great talent and reputation. Also, Jim Christian is also a URI alum from the late 80's (Tom Penders years), though he was there 10 years before Preston Murphy.

Preston was also with Cooley at BC. He and Ed know each other very well. You can believe that with Cooley's relationship with Mac that this should not be a surprise.
