I'm still cautiously optimistic for 5 bids. 6 would be outstanding. 7? I will believe it when I see it.

But things are breaking right. Butler is doing what they have to do. Providence and seton hall are looking solid. St johns had a tough start and will likely finish stronger. Georgetown should be there. I'm still very hesitant on xavier. The bubble is weak, I know, but as of now the x-men aren't passing the sniff test. Hope I am wrong.

RedstormHoops, you really think St. John's is gonna finish 7th in the league?

I don't know what to think, but I know we are 1-3 at the moment. Things will change, my problem with deeming the johnnies in fifth place or better is I have no idea how we are going to match up with Xavier and Georgetown and we don't play them until the end of the year.

I just can't pencil in anything. Xavier has a better projected seed than us right now and they lost at DePaul, so I am worried. My goal is for the johnnies to get in without a having to play a play in game. That's my dream. We will see what happens.

The fan in me wants to think we will be 12-6 in BE play this year. But it won't be so straightforward. Honestly I think the posters on redmen.com are being a little more realistic than the few St. John's fans on here. This isn't going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination, and you guys like to trash talk a bit when our team is a lackluster 1-3.

I'm rooting, really hard too, but at the moment St. John's doesn't have much to brag about in Big East play. One game at a time, root for the team, and don't trash talk Georgetown fans who are wondering what seed they will be in the tournament while us johnnies fans wonder if DLo will ever see a tournament game that doesn't have the letters NIT slapped on the floor.

Mick Cronin would be proud of you. He was famous for saying, "Xavier would get slaughtered if they were in the Big East".

Well xavier did go from a perennial top A10 team and consistent tourney lock to the play in game in their first year of the conference and the wrong side of the bubble in year 2 (in a big east that is not the same as the one mick Cronin talked about), so I'm not sure that mick was totally wrong.

Although xavier in the current configuration is in a great position for long term success. And we all know that xavier should have been invited over cincy in 2004.

Oh, and by the way, it took cincy over half a decade to get back on track after they joined the big east.
