Could've had another 2,000 or so maybe. Not at all worth it. Part of the appeal of Prudential Center is the ability for us to create an intimate atmosphere, a stark contrast to that awful airplane hangar in the middle of a swamp we used to play in. Until we know we can put 15,000 people in the place ALL THE TIME the upper deck stays closed. Having a few thousand extra people rattling around in the upper deck is not even remotely worth giving up the atmosphere we have in there now. The way the upper deck is curtained off and the arena is lighted you don't even realize there's an upper deck there. It feels like a 10,000 seat arena. And it gets LOUD. This place traps noise, our old arena was where noise went to die. The setup we have now is exactly what we need. And thankfully our AD gets that.

For those that were at the St. John's and Villanova games, if you are a Pirate fan, you DO NOT want that atmosphere changed! Like shupirate98 says, we thankfully have an AD (and administration actually) who finally get it. As our boys get better our atmosphere will continue to improve even more and I for one can't wait!
As always, this is Just One Pirate's Opinion!

So do we enter next week with only 1 ranked team?

Villanova of course

Seton Hall lost to Xavier and barely beat Creighton
St John's lost to Villanova for 3rd straight loss
Georgetown lost to Providence
Butler lost to Providence
Xavier lost to Butler

in a perfect world, Providence should be ranked. But will they? I think this is a pretty big thing- I could hear the choruses saying that wow the Big East has such a great conference rating- but only has 1 top 25 team.

Seton Hall might drop but they could remain ranked. I don't know enough about other scores to say that with certainty, but in a vacuum, they should remain ranked.

I think the hall stays ranked, road loss to solid Xavier team followed by road win at Creighton shouldn't boot them from rankings.

PC should be ranked but I'd have to do the leg work to see who lost once or twice since last polls that might fall. PC will definitely get votes at the least.

NC state is throttling #2 Duke at home on national TV after battling tough #3 Virginia on the road, if duke game sticks they may enter the polls...

A 1 pt win at Creighton(where DePaul just beat them easily?) I don't know that it's a lock at all. I personally would have PC ranked and SH not ranked. I think for one to the voters the name Seton Hall will hurt them.

I would agree with you if all the voters watched the SHU/CU game, but the reality is that 90+% are only going to see the final score, which means they only see a road win over a team that's already beaten some very good teams (Oklahoma, Nebraska). Also considering just about everyone immediately below the Hall lost, I think they drop a few spots but remain ranked. As for Providence, I hope they break into the rankings but expect them to be in the upper tier of receiving votes.

I think the problem though is the "lazy voter syndrome" if you will would hurt Seton Hall because they knew that DePaul beat Creighton pretty easily. I'd say it's at best 50/50.

I think some voters who look at us and say we deserve a 2nd team in frankly would take PC. I think they would see beating Georgetown as meaning a lot more than beating what is now a 9-8 team.

Creighton is a team that many of the voters have penciled in their ballot enough times the last couple years. A road win against Creighton will look fine for seton hall, and a road loss to Xavier isn't going to drop them 6 spots. At least I don't think it would. Xavier has credibility with the voters.

Seton Hall remains in at #21.

Nova up to #5.

PC is #29- but with only 17 votes.
St John's #32 with 10 votes
Georgetown t #33 with 7 votes
Butler t #38 with 2 votes

liking the positions for the others- but not the # of votes. The PC vote is sad quite frankly. You stuck a gun to my head and asked who the 2nd best team was right now- I'd probably have to say PC.
