rank the Big East big men....

Looking for more big men then just front court players (so not more forward playing frontcourt players like Henton, pointer, Anderson and JVP)

1. Ochefu - 19 pts and 24 boards on saturday, the junior is looking better and better as he becomes more comfortable as a go to offensive player. 10 pts, 8.7 boards per game, among the best numbers of the bunch.

2. Obekpa - not much offensively, but a very pure defensive center. 8.4 rebounds, 4 blocks per game.

3. Angel Delgado - a beast of a freshman who plays like an upper classman. Still a little raw offensively, but has a nose for the ball and is very strong. Leading the league in rebounding at 8.9 with another 8 pts per game.

4. Stainbrook - probably had him at #1 pre-season. Xavier's struggles have diminished some of his shine, but I think it is more about the other three guys stepping up than stainbrook just falling off. His numbers are still where they should be. 7 boards per game, but over 12 pts per game.

5. Woods - important piece of what makes butler good. Does a good job in the post and on the boards. Leading the league with delgado at 8.9 boards, but just appears to be less physical in the paint than the other guys ahead of him.

6. Josh Smith. Limited minutes limit his stats. He has been scoring 12 ppg game in only 22 minutes with another 6 boards per game, which is respectable.

7. Desrosiers - not the typical center offensively, more of the perimeter pf, but does a good job defensively protecting the paint. Big man who can keep the defense honest spreading them out to the perimeter.

I don't know enough about tommy Hamilton to put him on the list, but his stats are decent.

Luke Fischer's resume is incomplete at this time.

Another who could be mentioned (although also around 7-8) is Xavier's Jalen Reynolds. He has averaged only about 18 minutes per game but grabs 5 rebounds and scores 9 points during those 18 minutes. If he were to be able to defend more effectively (e.g. cut down on his fouls), he could be a 25-28 mpg player with correspondingly better statistics. But "could of's" and "would of's" don't make the player.

Really disappointing that Delgado's foul trouble prevented us from seeing that Ochefu-Delgado matchup on Saturday. Seton Hall has no other legitimate big man, so with Delgado on the bench, Ochefu was just allowed to do whatever he wanted offensively and on both boards (even when Delgado was in, he couldn't be his normal aggressive self because he had to avoid picking up fouls). They're both great players but 24!! rebounds. That doesn't happen if there's another big man in the game playing against him.
