I would often agree, but when you beat them by 23 points, I feel like the second meeting should have the same result.

I didn't watch the game so I can't honestly say how hard X played, but based on the result of last time and today, I just can't believe that they gave the same effort today as they did earlier this season.

Looked like a good effort to me. LBSU was just shooting lights out in the 2nd half.

Even though X lost, still overall a good day for the Big East imo.

The positives to me this month-
Villanova 6-0 and should be 7 or 8 this week. I think this was crucial.
Seton Hall 5-0
PC, Creighton 6-1 (and Dunn's shoulder seems ok- which is HUGE!)
Butler 5-1(and maybe ranked this week)
DePaul only 1 loss

the negatives to me this month-
Xavier and Georgetown with 2 losses already. Putting themselves in a position where if they lose a 3rd or welp 4th OOC game, going to have to have a real good conference season to have a shot to make the tourney. Xavier with 3 real losable games- Alabama, Missouri, and Cincy(even Auburn to some degree). Georgetown with 2 in Kansas and Indiana. You don't want to go into conference play with 3 OOC losses. Not necessarily the teams you wanted to have 2 losses already quite frankly.
3 bad losses conference wide. Just as many as last year this point.

The I don't know what to make of them department-
Marquette. bad loss to Omaha, but then goes 2-1 in Orlando. if they win the games they should, worst case enters conference play 8-5(or same as last year).

I don't see Georgetown's losses to be that bad. One of them is to a Wisky team that may well be the best team next to UK. Really unfortunate that we ended up with a BE vs. BE match-up in that tourney.

Xavier is the tough one right now. Not only do they have two losses, but the losses are against two midmajors that are not exactly powerhouses. LBSU may win their league, but that league is awful. UTEP is an average team at best.

It's bad for Georgetown in that we have 2 losses. Right now we have to beat both Kansas and Indiana(not to mention not lose any other games) to enter conference play with only 2 losses. Any more than that, and we're making it where we have to go 10-8 in conference play or better to feel comfortable in making the NCAA.

Not worried about X. Creighton lost two games in that tournament last year, I believe, and was never really counted out of the NCAA tournament. Playing LBSU to a few points on essentially its home turf and its own timezone at the end of a long Thanksgiving weekend isn't the worst thing. Missouri is not that good. They lost to UMKC to start the season and haven't beaten anyone of note. Alabama might be better, but X gets them at home. Cincinnati is so far down the road that X's season will have been largely determined by that point.

Georgetown has a coupe of tougher games, but I think they are built to handle Kansas, particulary at home. Although Indiana is on the road, they don't look all that great either. They lost to Eastern Washington, and their only notable win was to an SMU team, which although rated 23rd at the time, is now 3-3.

I look at those games and see several more great opportunities for this league to make a statement.

Creighton was never counted out of the NCAA tournament because of 2 things- 1 they didn't lose any thing else OOC, and 2 they then dominated conference play. Unless Xavier is going to go 14-4 in conference play, these OOC games are going to be huge. And I'm sorry- Xavier isn't going 14-4 in conference play.

Three years ago, Marquette pounded Norfolk State in Milwaukee 99-68. A week later they met in the Final of the Paradise Jam and only won by 2. Everyone on the Marquette Board thought the sky was falling. How could we only win by 2 against a team that we'd beaten by more than 30 the week before?

MU finished 27-8 (14-4), good enough for a 2nd-place finish in the Superconference Big East, and went to the Sweet 16.

Norfolk State went on to win the MEAC, make the tournament as a 15 seed, and upset #2 seed Missouri.
Al McGuire: "What is this?"
Waiter: "Mr. McGuire, that is a cull lobster. Sometimes when the lobsters are in the tank, they fight. This one lost a claw."
Al McGuire: "Well then take this one away and bring me the winner."

I don't know what you mean by "average", but UTEP was picked to be a top 100 team and they've been playing like one. They are currently ranked in the top 70 in various power ratings. You're under rating them.
