Independent of whether the students stormed the court or not, the atmosphere was truly electric last night. I've been a season ticket holder for six years, and other than a Wichita St. game or two, I haven't seen the CLink ramped up like it was last night. OU was superior in size and athleticism (and possibly skill as well), but when Hegner's three dropped in early in the second half, you knew there was a chance, and the crowd responded. One of my favorite home game memories.

And with regard to students storming the court, I don't see the harm in it. Old people like me can sit back and objectively decide when it's appropriate, but everyone was so juiced (especially how the last 20 seconds played out with the missed free throws to keep it close), even I felt like storming the court. The current group of players interact more with the crowd than any Jays team I can remember, so you feel more like celebrating overtly. Great win.

Strange. Court storming and the players and coach act like they beat a #1 team? They need to start acting like they've been here before. Just another day in the office.

In all fairness though, creighton played a hell of a game and deserve to celebrate. Start acting like a big shot and act like games like this are common place well then it's going to hurt bad when they start losing to teams they're not suppose to lose too.

They came back from 17 to win the game at home in front of a packed house against a ranked opponent. If that doesn't get your blood pumping then theres something wrong with you.

Again. You should probably read this thread from beginning. I was directing that sarcasm at chicagojayfan and ljay about not being so uptight about fans and players celebrating a well deserved victory. This board needs a sarcasm font.

Also, I was a bit intoxicated last night.

I did read the thread from the beginning, you're sarcasm didn't translate well enough. Thats why so many people didn't recognize it as sarcasm.

A number of you root for teams that that haven't been truly relevant as great college basketball programs for over a decade. And yet you criticize the fans of one of the "New 3" for showing their happiness and pride in celebrating a win over a highly rated P-5 team when their own team was picked to finish 9th in the pre-season Big East Poll.

Why do you think Butler, Creighton, and Xavier were selected to bring this Conference to 10? It sure as hell wasn't to shine the shoes of, and pay homage at the shrines of, the C-7. Two of those three teams finished as high or higher than all but one of the C-7 in their very first year in the Conference. The other was just a couple of years away from having reached the Final Four twice. Instead of being critical of the fans of Creighton (who happen to attend their team's games at twice the numbers as most of your fans), you who are critical of their love and support of the Jays should take a look in the mirror and find there someone who has no right to exact such criticism.

In retrospect, perhaps you are being critical because you have forgotten how elated fans can get upon realizing true on-court success by your favorite Big East team. For that, we Butler, Creighton, and Xavier fans feel for your years of misery.

I guess this post will qualify me to occupy a place in the "douch bag" gallery! I don't care --- it needed to be said.

You completely missed the point. it was an awesome win, we are all happy. It's the backhanded complement from him that ticked me off. If this is the best win the conference has this year we are in trouble. A lot of very good teams are going to lose in that building, yours included probably.

Holy lord.

Big win, fun crowd, and a bunch of ninnies posting on HLOH.

who give a crap about court storming or etiquette or degrees of sarcasm?

IMO, Big East teams and fanbases should expect to compete and play with the best. We should all expect to beat ranked teams a good chunk of the time...hell we should all expect to be in the Top 25 fairly regularly.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect last night and feared that the entire game was going to be the 1st half. Our coach and players wouldn't let it go down like that. I need to adjust my expectations.

We need all 10 schools to pick it up and win big OOC games every year and win big games in March.

F the Football 5ers. We are the Big East. I believe. Now go f'ing win.......all of you.

+1
I like your style but we are past the footballers vs BE. Season has started so let the smack talk begin! It's all love and brotherhood.

On TV, it was plain of day that nobody other than the cheerleaders and the Blue Jay storm the court.

I agree.

A true court-storming is when a sea of humanity engulfs the players and refs and scoring table, and none of them can get off the court easily (I picture fast-moving zombie types from that movie with Brad Pitt...), preceded by that entire human mass scrunched against the baseline as the home player tries to ice the game with free throws. Last night CU celebrated perfectly... cheerleaders and a couple of stragglers, the players jumping around each other, and some partying in the locker room.

I originally said that "Big East teams don't rush the court unless it's vs another BE team", and I meant it as a compliment to Creighton's fans (cuz from my view on the telecast, they didn't rush the court). By page 7 or so someone turned it into "C7 vs +3" rant... but it wasn't intended that way.

Anyway, Creighton looks to have a perfectly designed roster for their style of play. Freakin Shooter U... love it...

I plan on being at the Dunk tonight for our game vs Navy. I'm expecting tighter substitutions and more controlled play from the Friars. Should be a good test.

As a Creighton Fan, expectations for this year have been low, as I'm sure you can imagine. This not only is a great win for our resume but a good win for the players and fan base. Theres been a lot of doubters and tonight we have proved we can win.
Great atmosphere! I got a chill tonight when looking around the arena and realizing this is my team and how cool it is to be a part of it every gameday.
Looking forward to the 2nd year in the new big east. Good luck to everyone!

P.S. It's comical that it was reported we rushed the court. Just cheerleaders and blue crew like every win.

I posted this in another thread but wanted to say again PROPS to Creighton last night. Obviously a big win for you guys and the Big East but your arena looked awesome, your fans packed the place, and they were LOUD. Student section was rocking. AWESOME representation. Thanks Creighton!

Still early obviously but I'm here to eat crow and it tastes great! Very, very nice win by Creighton man what a comeback. I said they wouldn't be half the team without Doug but clearly they can shoot with new faces. Oklahoma is a legitimate top 25 team likely most if not all season. Great win for CU and the Big East. I said I'd give credit where it was due if they prove they can keep playing at a high level. They are so far. And by the way the SJ women just beat Florida. Nice to see the Big East taking down the football 5 schools!
