The beauty of the marathon wasn't that it was on New Years eve, but it was the season opening marathon. It's a GREAT idea. If it's on Dec 30, it's a home run- and we'd probably see games getting 200-250k viewers per game. Not struggling to get 100k.

It looks like ESPN2 and ESPNU is basketball heavy day to night on Dec. 30, not the case on Dec. 31.

So you think Stever was wrong? Unbelievable. I'm pretty sure the people who run Fox know more than he does.

Steve and I are on the same page. In 2015 and 2016 will be the semi's of the college football playoff, basketball needs to stay away.

One thing to remember- what is good for fox may not be what is good for the Big East. Fox may have pushed for it wanting anything with a pulse to go up with football. I don't know that the Big East necessarily pushed for it. Big East may have gone along with it in order to get other concessions in the schedule.

Just looking at the NYE schedule- there's all of 11 games on after 4pm on NYE. Our 3 games and then 4 MWC games are the only conference games. Isn't that kind of telling how all the other conferences view NYE now?

Stever, way to be Captain Obvious. If you are referring to why there are no P5 BB games on NYE, why would AD's of the P5 schedule anything vs. their own product (BCS FB)? Personally I would want the games on another night just because after the Nova game I'll probably check out and start enjoying my NYE with friends and not watch any of the other games.

But again Stever, how many posts do you need to make about what is wrong with the BE and what is wrong with Fox. I challenge you to post nothing but positive things for 1 week about this new conference and the upcoming year. Just try it for 1 week....please...

There are some P5 games on NYE- just not after 5pm. But also- the P5 are smart knowing that football is the #1 sport and knowing that football will absolutely crush any basketball games that day. And that is this year. Next year it's the football semifinals which will make what we're going up against this year seem small. It's complete lunacy to put what should be our biggest day of the year up against that. It was smart last year when the old football system was in place, but the fact is- things have changed.

If things are positive I'll post positive. I'm not going to fake positve just to make you happy. Sorry. And nothing about doing a NYE marathon up against the football is positive. It's moronic. It's I'm going to force this round peg into that square hole.

Give this attempt at a unique tradition a chance. It will take years. It is not going to lure 10 million viewers. What CBB opening conference games would? However, over time, sports fans and gamblers will always remember. New Years Eve means 5 Big East games you can watch or bet on. Have some vision.

They aren't going to remember because they aren't going to give it a chance. This won't get any casual sports fans at all. None. Folks will be doing one of 2 things on NYE. Either 1- watching football playoffs, or 2- celebrating NYE. Unless they change the college football semifinals to another day- it's never going to take hold.

Also every 6 years or so, it'd be going up against the NFL.

Your 1-year anniversary of registering on this site slipped by a few weeks ago, and none of us had a chance to congratulate you.

Also, at some point earlier this month, you leap-frogged into first place with the most total posts on this site. Your post above was your 2,205th. Only five members here have even cracked 1,000 posts. I think you should get time-and-a-half from whomever is bankrolling your enterprise here... either the SEC conference, or AAC, ACC, A-10, LSU, or SMU.

Keep up the good work.

Man, that's a huge commitment to a doomed venture. I don't think I'd bother posting at all if I thought the BE had no chance of success, let alone posting 2,000+ over a year.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
