If we are trying to emulate Dayton's one run in 30 years or George Mason's only run ever, than ya, these rankings are meaningless.

And it's also not like Dayton hasn't recruited relatively well themselves. Without looking, I'm pretty sure they had at least 3 4-Star level recruits on that team, and a decent amount of ranked 3-Stars.

I really don't find it surprising though that fans of Butler and Creighton (teams who have not historically recruited well in regards to ratings, although I see that changing for Creighton) not put stock into recruiting sites/rankings.

Was a little tipsy last night so my comment was a little harsh. Chalmers0 is right, Dayton does recruit well and their NCAA misfortune has been more bad-luck (BG, A-10 tourney) etc. than lack of skilled players. George Mason is a true anomaly and they haven't done anything to prove that otherwise. As always, you can do great with highly skilled recruits, but you should use that success to get better recruits in the future. 15 years ago there is no way X has the caliber of recruits we do now.
