Bucknell won first round games in the NCAA tournament in '05 and '06. I'd say they had a decent chance of advancing to the Sweet 16 those years. VCU made a Final 4 as a play-in team that wouldn't have even made the tournament a couple of years earlier. Hard to make the statement that they can't really compete when recent history has shown any school can win.

Big difference in winning a game or two or being level. Also, won't be shocked at all if the P5 basically demands that the Play in games change to the worst 8 teams and thus pushing a Bucknell down to being a 14 or 15 seed. And- big difference between a Bucknell and a VCU.

There might be a big difference between VCU and Bucknell now, but there was always. The same could be said for Xavier and Bucknell. Programs rise and programs fall, not everything is set in stone. You may not believe in cinderalla teams, but fortunately most of the country does and that is why the tourney is so great.

Either way, I thought we had agreed that the sane conclusion was that the NCAA tourney is safe?
