Don't see it in this thread but I'm sure it's been mentioned on this board already.

Xavier was booted from Old Spice since Marquette had signed their contract first and they are actually enforcing the 1 school per conference rule this year.

Xavier will be playing in Anaheim instead against a pretty crappy field.

I do believe that is the plan, but I could be wrong

Xavier wasn't booted from the Old Spice at least to my understanding. They chose to withdraw. Georgetown and Butler are both playing in Atlantis. Xavier could have stayed in Old Spice if they wanted to from what I understand. Speculation (my own) is Xavier didn't want to compete and that's why they're in a much weaker tournament now.

The Director of Basketball Ops, the one in charge of scheduling, specifically stated that we were pushed out because we signed a contract after Marquette and that we didn't ask to be out. That's all I know. I have no idea why we would want to play lesser competition, our OOC schedule isn't exactly strong right now.

Seems weird that Old Spice would care but Atlantis wouldn't and why they'd care this year when no one cared last year.

And lesser competition means more wins. The 3 losses in Atlantis nearly derailed Xavier's season and Xavier has a history of performing poorly in these early season tournaments according to my Xavier friends. Maybe they were tired of losing in them and wanted one they could win.
