I got one question for Big East basketball fans!

The Top Tier of the Big East IS obviously diminished with the loss of Cuse, UConn, and Ville. Yes, UConn strengthens the top of the conference. That should be the goal with any expansion now that we have 10. No other potential program does that today.

So going after a program that sees us (due to a lack of football) as a crappy consolation prize is the way to go?

Why not admit it's over, and build up the brand you now have in a similar manner to the way that happened 35 or so years ago?

You've got it. Calhoun is no longer there-he was the face of UConn. While Kevin Ollice "might" be decent, he has not proven anything. The have won 3 NCs since 1999. great job Calhoun. It's very tough to replace a legend. I would take them if they droped FB-not gonna happen. As I have posted before, once Jimmy B, Coach K and Williams retire, will there be a downward trend? Yup. Let us all embrace this new conference and build from within. We do not have to rely on the UConns of the world-they are old news. If we all strive to be the best BB conference in the land, kids will notice, the media will notice and we will become a dominant conference in the country.

I agree. UCONN and Calhoun were legendary. School is not guaranteed to stay that way. University of San Francisco used to be a power also.

My allegiance is to the schools in the conference now. We take these ten and push the basketball first conference and see where it goes. Why pursue football school when that was what caused the demise of the Old Big East?

I understand people being "worried" about losing schools like Cuse, UCONN, Louiville. I get it. But that ship sailed and IMO the best way forward to go all in with this group of 10 schools. We just have to win and recruit. UCONN is not some magic bullet to guaranteed success. Until football splits off or something else changes, I say we hold pat and build a new strong foundation.

^^^No chance in hell I'm living like that, nor should anyone else in the conference. They think they're a multisport king and will always be looking for the avenue to prove it - and besides, they're obviously not an institutional fit.

No matter how much basketball sense it may (or may not) make, this is a poisoned well. Since there's no way to ever be sure of their intentions even if they were to state a level of interest, the only prudent thing to do would be to tie it off and go with what we have, which is still substantial.

And anyway, when the BE formed UConn was dog poop, at least in relation to most of the rest of the conference. They built their brand because they had to; let's take the same approach here.

Click on the user you want to ignore, a screen will come up that says "add friend" and "add foe". Hit "add foe". If you know their name but don't want to look for their posts you can go into your user control panel and click on the friends and foes tab.
