To (add) to the internet and MU Message Board theories that Buzz was "forced out" or "not retained", in the past few months, whenever Marquette releases "bad news" - i.e. AD stepping down (Larry Williams), President stepping down (Scott Pilarz), a player transferring (Jameel McKay) - it is ALWAYS is released on a Friday at 5:00 PM (they same time frame that the Buzz news released).

This tells me that the school knew about Buzz leaving well in advance, and (more likely) administration had a say in him not being retrained. To be clear, I do not think he was fired. However, I think Buzz was offered the Virginia Tech job, went back to MU and made more demands, and MU politely said "If you feel the grass is greener, there is the door..."

It has been noted that the school has been putting their foot down regarding JUCOs (favorites of Buzz), due to their academic standing entering the school. If there was a clear "conflict of interest" with regards to how the team should be run, it could have pushed Buzz to look for other employment.
