It definitely wasn't the hatchet job we thought it would be. It was great. I never appreciated Pearl Washington because he rejected St. John's and because of my general dislike for Cuse but it was great seeing his highlights. What a great college player. He was a legend as a HS player in NYC. Amazed that he didn't have a great Pro career. The same for Walter Berry.

yeah, it was amazing to see the Pearl's highlights...

Would have kind of liked to have seen Lavin, Wright, JT 3 comment on things a bit from their perspective as coaches at those schools now.... They could have done another 2 hours, and still had tons of stuff on the cutting room floor quite frankly... I wonder if they were afraid of what ESPN would do quite frankly..

Boeheim, with initial candor, said that he hated the move. Then, he was coaxed to toe the company line and say that he embraced the moved. It was a business decisin made by those above him. In the long run, it might not be great for the basketball program (see Boston College) but th e school stands to gain quite a bit financially.

Syracuse leaving us was like:
if at the end of the movie, when Andre The Giant finds the four white horses after defeating the bad guys, and they turn to ride into the sunset... if Inigo Montoya at that moment had said "sorry guys, I'm staying and hanging out with Humperdinck... he offered to pay me a ton... and he's asked me to replace "The Man With Six Fingers"... Bye!...", and then he runs away back into the castle...

Thinking this through more, it would be like if Inigo Montoya was about to kill The Man With Six Fingers, and Six Fingers offers him Inigo anything to spare his life... money... gold... anything he asks... and Inigo answers "I want my father back you SOB... but I'll take the gold instead..."

It was a great documentary that highlighted everything we use to love about the Big East. It was loud,rough, and very northeastern! I think the taking apart of the floor was very symbolic to how a lot of us felt last season after the tourney. A lot of the programs that took it to its heights weren't going to be around the next year - no matter who had the garden and the name. It's the reality - the name and tourney are there, but the cast of characters has changed drastically. It wasn't a hack job on the league as it is at all. It barely mentioned the NBE, as the piece ended with March 2013.

It seemed the focus of the documentary was how and why the league was formed, and then how it became this giant of college sports so quickly. I don't think it was so much about the overall success of the league as it was about how quickly that success occurred from nothing. In that vein, the main players at the time were Cuse, G'Town, Nova and St. John's.

Maybe, but if that was supposed to be the focus, why entitle it "Requiem for the Big East?" How about "The Birth of the Big east", "Rise of the Big East", etc.?
