Under the tie breaker rules, you compare your record against the group of tied teams in the standings, not the team from the group with the higher seed. So Xavier and Marquette gets compared to Providence AND St. John's as a group, even though Providence would win a tie breaker at this point with the Johnnies. So actually, Marquette is 1-1 against Providence / St. John's and Xavier is 2-1 against Providence / St. John's which would make Xavier the higher seed.
