Thanks. You guys (and St. John's) have the setup I wish we had. Would be great to have that flexibility.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but . . . One advantage from a fan perspective that Creighton appears to have over the bigger city schools is that our "off-campus" facility is a mile from campus. It is easy for students to get to games (which is part of the reason many alumni get frustrated with the lack of students at times). Also, it is right off the interestate and an easy drive of no more than 20 minutes from almost anywhere in the City. I live outside the city about 25 miles away, and the drive is typicaly no more than 30 minutes door to door. No waiting for trains, no late night rides home on public transportation, no hour commute. Just hop in the car and once you get out of the parking area (which can take a little while) you are home in less then half an hour (much less for many). I really believe the fact that there is little hastle getting to and from games is part of the reason for our attendance figures.

You have a good point. For me if I go to an on campus game in Queens it's about a 45 minute ride down the LIE with no or light traffic. My record driving to the Queens border is 30 minutes from my exit which is about 35 miles east of the Queens border. I don't mind the drive...it's only 1 road for almost the entire way. If I want to go to MSG it's about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 ish to take the train in. The LIRR trains average about 35 MPH so it can be annoying. There's just so much congestion and so many people. You have commuters coming home clogging trains to the point where you can't even sit! Now I don't mind commuting via LIRR to MSG or driving 45 or so to Carnesseca, but it definitely has an impact on attendance for many people. Round trip tickets on the LIRR are $25. Then a general admission ticket for a mid level seat is about $50. You are talking at least $75 when all said and done and that's more around the bare minimum. If you want nice seats, a quick bite to eat, and you take the train in, it can easily be a $150 day. That's why you will see many SJ fans selectively pick the games they attend. I usually go to the big ones vs. G'Town, Nova, Cuse, etc...teams like that where you can justify the high prices. I think the reason there weren't so many fans on Sun. vs. Creighton was because it's a Sunday night and many fans who take the train would get home around midnight having to get up at 5 or 6 AM for work in the morning. Just too late. If it was a 1 PM game on Sunday it would be very different. A 1 PM Saturday game would be perfect.

At the end of the day with prices aside, SJ has to prove to fans they are the real deal before committing all the time and money. It's an investment. I think many fans are scared of paying upwards of $100 to see SJ get routed at MSG. Most of the times I have gone to our Cuse, G'Town, etc. games they seem to lose by 15-20. After seeing that so much it makes you sit back and make them prove they are worthy before spending that kind of money. I'm still scared we will get routed by G'Town at home even though we are good. They always seem to have our number even in good years.

Good game Hoyas. Big 3's by Smith-Rivera near end, plus Trawick.
If you guys want some entertainment, go to the PC Scout Message Board. The place is a trainwreck.
GU-SJU at MSG Sunday night will be great.

Substitute "Creighton" for "Marquette" and you basically have our situation. BC is a little under a mile from our campus. Interstate is right between us. Most places in the city within a short drive.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Trust me this is a constant debate on Georgetown sites. It's just never going to happen. Building anything at Georgetown is a major hastle because the neighbors block any efforts to build anything. An on campus arena is a complete non starter.

Substituting "Villanova" for "Georgetown", "can't make improvements to on campus arena" for "can't get on campus arena", everywhere in this quote almost perfectly describes Villanova's situation with Radnor township.

Sorry to further the thread jack, but reading that was like deja vu.
