To say this win was needed is an understatement. The consensus was that if there was any team to lick your wounds against after being pounded in Omaha by Creighton, it was DePaul at home, as Marquette had won 33 of the last 40 meetings with DePaul heading into yesterday, and had won 37 of its last 39 at home (38 of its last 40 in the City of Milwaukee).
MU haven't lost to the Blue Demons since Mike @#$%@#$%@ Stovall hit the shot of his life in 2010, and DePaul hasn't beaten Marquette in Milwaukee since 2000. A home loss would have been devastating for any MU fan's morale.
But winning is winning, and ultimately, superior talent/coaching/effort prevailed. On to Xavier.
Al McGuire: "What is this?"
Waiter: "Mr. McGuire, that is a cull lobster. Sometimes when the lobsters are in the tank, they fight. This one lost a claw."
Al McGuire: "Well then take this one away and bring me the winner."
