This came out months ago, but I love how the emphasis is back on NYC. The skyline on our jerseys, shorts, huge ads on buses, MSG marquee, etc. I never knew why we didn't stress it more. We have midtown Manhattan 10 miles away and you can see the skyline from the D'Angelo Center, but in the past we didn't incorporate it enough. We are the only major college team actually representing the NYC area that's really in NYC. Glad we finally campaign like it! The one thing I'm very confused with is the complete lack of any gear even after switching to UA. All those awesome shirts and jerseys the players wear that you hear everyone talking about...can't buy em. If I was UA, I'd have tons of UA gear available before the season even started. I don't get what the hold up is. They said the jerseys would be available for purchase in late October. It's now mid December and nothing. UA is missing their window where fans want all the new gear and the hype is high...pretty soon we will just stop caring and won't even buy if they even make the gear available for sale at all. I'm the farthest thing from a business marketing guru, but this is marketing 101. Make your product available, and ride the hype wave.

The UA gear will become more available in stores but there is plenty at St. John's and online at the school website. Lavin has gotten the Garden more involved with St. John's since his arrival and the marketing budget has grown a bit over the last few seasons which is why you are seeing more SJU around town.

FYI I emailed a UA rep about the SJ gear and this was the reply

"Thank you for reaching out to us about our St. John's gear. Currently these are shirts that were made exclusively for the team though our teammates here are aware of their demand. While we do not have an exact release date for these styles or others, we know our team is working hard to make St. John's apparel available for sale.
