Wow. No offense but what is going through this guy's head? One minute he says Rysheed Jordan is more talented than Baron Davis and among the best PG's he's ever coached. Then he says we need to wait until Feb. to "gel" as a team. Then he says we have as much talent as anyone and we finally have the pieces to make a real run in the Big East. Now he says the 2013 schedule is the hardest he has faced while at SJ. Umm…does he forget the 2011 season where we essentially beat the stuffing out of top 15 teams consistently including Duke, UConn, Nova, Pitt, etc.? I really don't even know if he believes what he says. Lavin gets everyone pumped and creates high expectations, then once the season starts he slowly says stuff like "Well, you know…we are still young", "Well, Wisconsin was a good team…more power to them", "We need to wait until Feb. to gel", "Our schedule this year is the hardest I've had while here", "Well, we lost Harkless to the draft", "Well --insert excuse here….".
It's scary to hear Lavin suddenly reducing expectations. That's never a good thing. If the team does not at the bare minimum make the tournament this year, then he really needs to be placed on the hot seat…he may not be a New York kind of coach. This is a city of expectations and winning. No matter how sexy the recruits are, if you don't go far with them, no one will care. New York is a results town, not a "well, we tried" town.
