Xavier - New fan COVID protocols

Postby Coasterville95 » Thu Jan 06, 2022 1:03 am

Just a heads up to anybody planning a trip to Cintas Center to attend a basketball game

Effective immediately and going through at least January - to enter the arena fans 12 and up must show proof of vaccination or proof of a negative covid test performed less than 72 hours prior to tip. Also an ID will need to be shown. Once inside / masks at all times unless actively eating or drinking.

Don’t know if they will be serious this time, but in November enforcement of the mask mandate was a joke.

Of course they are advising to arrive extra early to clear the new covid screening tent, then you will go through metal detection, then the ticket scanners.

Politics aside, this has the potential to be quite a mess at the arena.

It's the same deal in a lot of places - Prudential Center, MSG and Wells Fargo Center in the Big East that I know of. Not sure if it applies to SJU's and Nova's on campus arenas.

I didn't realize that. Maybe less of an issue that I imagined.

Hopefully the Big East tournament can be played in full with sold out crowds this year. Losing any of that revenue would be very harmful to the league's bottom line.

It still could cause some headaches for X, particularly regarding the time it takes getting fans into the building. The pro arenas I mentioned have more resources than I imagine Cintas does and have had other events to work out an efficient system.

You must show proof of vaccination and ID before entering Carnesecca Arena at SJU. They have a tent set up outside the arena with three or four lines for the screening and then you can enter the building. Runs pretty smooth there.
